Hiya all just a quick question does the maternity exemption certificate cover eye test and dental costs?

my eyes have been killing the past few days im notsure if i should go to the doctors or book in for an eye test. hopefully i wont have too pay much if anyhtink.
thanks girls xx

hiya,

it covers dental care but not eye care, i was told by the opticians not to have my eyes tested whilst pregnant as they will not be accurate and may return to normal once baby is born.. dental care is covered until 1 year after baby is born:thumbup:

You have to pay for eye tests but not dental care x

In agreement with allyk..... I had laser eye surgery about 6 months before falling pregnant, and you have to go back for check ups after, and they said they wont sign me off until after I have had the baby as your eyes fluctuate when you are pregnant.

It does cover Dental though x

yep another one told not to get eyes tested till after baby is here which is a pain coz I need new specs anyways but sigh x

and no eye tests and glasses are not covered in the exemption.

I asked the consultant at my appointment today about my eyes because I had a few problems last week and had to go to the hospital for a check over.
He said that pregnant women are more likely to retain fluids and this can occur in your eyes as well. And that it will all sort itself out after birth so it's not worth being tested before as it can change.
