I left work on 10/10/11 for maternity leave. Ive been currently getting SMP. Work wrote to me a few weeks ago asking when i would be returning. I called into work last week of May to discuss with the manager what hours i could manage.

I used to be a carer at this company and can no longer do the housr as they are pretty un-child friendly. so they are going to let me return as a cleaner. They told me to return 25th June as they needed a cleaner badly. Reluctantly i said yes even though they havent even given me a months notice to sort out child care etc. They said they would pop my new contract in the post with my hours and pay. (going to be less than what i was previously earning per hour)

So far ive received nothing in the post. No phone call and ive just heard on the grapevine that the head cleaner has been slaggin me off stating that im going to be unreliable as ive only just had a baby.

I loved my job as a carer and have now 3 children. I wasnt unreliable back then so whats so different. I went in every day never late and always turned up even when i was ill!!! Im so disheartened that i now do not wish to return and am quite happy to now hand in my resignation.

But i dont know where i stand as i said i will be returning although my mat leave isnt really up until Oct. So does it count? I havent sgned anything or put anything in writin about my return.

Im literally crapping myself and getting so worked up over this. Every day is closer to when i have to leave my baby and i dont want too.

:(

Aww first of all :hugs:, don't get yourself worked up over this. Sounds like the head cleaners a bit of a bitch tbh and has no reason to make those judgements of you!
I would notify them and tell them you do not wish to return, and if they ask why I think I would be honest and tell them what you have heard! As you haven't signed anything or even put a date in writing they cannot force you to return. They shouldn't have asked you to return earlier either as it is down to you when you wish to go back x x

Also they need to have a sound business justification for not considering flexible working hours on your old job!
