Ive been looking at FF car seats in preparation for when LO is ready for it. I'm stuck between the pearl and tobi, if I get the pearl I would also have to get the familyfix base( more expense!) but if it's worth doing then so be it. The tobi uses just the seat belt to fit it. I just wondered if anyone had either of these car seats and what they think to them in terms of look, safety and comfort?

Thanks girlies x

We have the tobi as two women recommended it to us in mothercare and babies r us. I hadn't done any research on this particular car seat before buying it but we were desperate in the end as LO's was touching the top of his other car seat. (I took so so long to choose one as i was reading every review and looking in to every little detail :haha:) So in the end i just said tough it we'll go with this as i was being so over the top fussy! We used it for the first time yesterday, so i havent got a lot of experience with it yet. However, LO seemed comfortable in it, was rather spacious, and he could see clearly out of all the windows. He kept nosing towards the front at the window wipers and at me changing gear which was cute :haha: OH installed it and it quick and simple to do. What made me go for the tobi is mainly because the straps sort of 'spring' out of the way so you don't have to struggle moving them out of the way to put LO in. After i had already bought the carseat i checked the reviews to see what others had to say.. The reviews on amazon aren't the best.. And when i read these i was like  But i was then reassured on the halfords website because something like 75 out of 75 people have given it 5* and would recommend it  (The one we got is the 'maxi cosi tobi tango red' which looks lovely in the car!)

I'm interested in replies. We want a Maxi Cosi one, but there are so many different kinds! :)

We have the tobi. Got a lovely blue one. We were recommended by a few friends. Me and hubby love it. My son loved being able to see out of the window! It's a really heavy seat but very sturdy when in the car. It's easy after some practice to put it in and out of the car if it needs moving. It reclines which I found useful especially if lo fell asleep on long journeys. Had lovely padded straps and when u release the buckle the straps spring out of the way so u can get lo in without having to fiddle to move straps out of the way! Especially handy if it's raining! The covers come off easily and wash really well. Mine has been washed twice as lo was sick and has not faded at all. I would defo recommend this seat, we haven't had any problems at all xx

We have the Tobi and I love it. We wanted a maxi cosi one I found this one fitted with what we wanted and what we had to spend.
It's very very very secure, that secure that we can't get it out :haha: but that's what I love, I know he's not going anywhere.
He looks comfy in it and reclines when he's sleeping.
We have the grey one and looks lush.
I'd deffo recommend it :)

I have the pearl. LO loves is, it seems very spacious and he looks very comfy in it. You can still recline it a bit or have it up right with the family fix base. The seat belt is easily adjustable. Don't really know what else to say but we love it.

We have the Pearl also, in black. We had the Pebble with the family fix base initially so was the obvious choice for us.

LO loves his seat. It sits up a little higher than some seats, and he loves looking out the window. Straps are very easy to work, as is the adjustment for head/harness height. Moves in and out of the car so easily too. Best thing is that ease at which it reclines. My family live 2 hours away and when we go to visit LO naps in the car very comfortably as it reclines quite far back.

I loved the Tobi too. The Pearl was just the most sensible buy as we had the base already really.

Good luck, and shop around. We got the Pearl from boots for 130 quid...

have you looked at the axiss? we got this one as you can swivel the seat round so much easier for getting LO in and out especially if shes fell asleep, reclines well and also uses seat belt very easy to install x

(sorry i have to ask if you've considered extended rear facing, as it is much safer)

that aside, baed on friends comments, i wouldnt recommend either as my friends mainly have average sized children that border on small even
and 3 of the 4 that have a maxi cosi seat are currently spending money on group 123 car seat as their child has out grown it at 2, so still too young for a booster.

britax are a great brand, and are very spacious x

Hi I have a Tobi and bought it when my first daughter was 9 months as she was a long baby and outgrew her cabrio fix.. My little girl loved her Tobi as she could see out of the windows and always fell asleep in a comfy looking pOsition as some seats just don't support their head. My little girl is 4 a week Sunday and has only just upgraded her seat tO a fairo as she is a pretty tall girl at 3ft6 so no longer fits her Tobi

I highly recommend the Tobi as last long and does the job well and when fitted properly is very very firm and brilliant xxx

I was looking at maxi cosi as I have the cabrio fix at the moment so wanted to stick with the brand...siyren I didn't realise you could get rear facing for the next stage? I thought that when LO got to 9kgs or 9 months then they had to go in a forward facing seat?! I bought the base for the cabrio fix but clearly had baby brain at the time as I thought you would be able to use it for the pearl however it turns out it isn't compatible :dohh: so I would have to buy a new base if I got the pearl. I love the new blue sky colour but don't know if I'm being swayed more by this as the tobi looks a bit bigger like LO wouldn't look too big for it when he got to 3/4 years old??? Oh I dunno   x x

will pm you hun incase you dont check this thread again, but extended rear facing is not only possible- its great, theres not need to turn baby round yet at all :) lyss is 2 and still rear facing x

We were planning in getting the Tobi, but because of the reviews went with the Priori XP instead and it's lovely, LO used to scream in her Cabriofix but loves sitting in the new seat and it reclines too!
