I went to see my midwife yesterday for my 34 week check up, and was told the baby was measuring at 36 week.

Now I'm confused, as she told me that although technically I am 34 week pregnant, I could be early.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm just scared that if the baby does go full term to the 19th August, there'll be complications - as I've heard stories about due dates been wrong and that proving problem for baby.

Please put my mind at rest

Hey, try not to worry too much. I measured 2 weeks ahead with my first and second baby, and they were both perfect, with long legs and weighed 8lb 2oz and 8lb 1.5oz respectively.
I'm measuring at 3 weeks ahead this time, and I'm not worried about it. These measurements are based on an average - some babies are bigger, others are smaller but it doesnt mean there are problems.
The 12 week scan dates are the most accurate indicator, but again, only 3% of babies arrive on their due date, with others arriving anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks being considered as normal.

I was measuring 4 weeks ahead at 28 weeks and I had to have a growth scan which showed nothing wrong. At 37 weeks I was measuring 39 weeks, and then at my appt. yesterday I was measuring 39 weeks...at 39 weeks...did she say this after taking your fundal heights? These are such a rough estimate because it's measured with a simple tape measure, and those are not very accurate at all. I really wouldn't worry the baby was probably just laying stretched out.

If it is based on funal height, +/- 2 cm of your pg week is totally normal. If it is based on a measurement/growth scan, then it is more accurate.

Either way I wouldn't worry! I have a HUGE LO -- I had a growth scan at 32 weeks and he measured full term at about 37/38 weeks! He has been measuring 4-6 weeks ahead for ages now. It doesn't mean anything is wrong. He's just big!

I wouldnt worry, according to measurements with my first I was going to be having a 9lb baby lol he was 6lb 15oz. They can be so far out its not worth worrying about.

Don't worry about it...I also am measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have been since my 20 week scan, which was actually my 18 week scan. That is when they also gave me an earlier due date of August 31st. Gets confusing I know. When your LO is ready it will come. They say your baby is considered full term at 37 weeks, at least that is when the lungs are mature enough to be outside the womb. The EDD can be off by three weeks ahead and two weeks behind I think or it may be reverse that.

since i was 26 weeks my fundal height has been 5-6 weeks ahead and at 27 weeks i had a growth scan done at babybond, bubs was measured as being 3lb. i've been measuring out as full term since my 30 week app. i am now 33+ and last weeks scan showed 5.5lb and measuring at 42 weeks and yesterday bubs was just under 6lb and 43cm fundal height so try not to worry. i am only just under 9stone and huge lol but everything is ok with baby so i'm not worried. apparently there are lots of women who measure out as being ahead. hope all goes well.xx
