Just looking at buying a steriliser and some bottles and have a question.

I want to use the medela/ haberman feeder bottles to avoid any issues with breast/ bottle confusion as I intend to express and let DH do some feeding as soon as me and baby are comfortable with BF, but it is very hard to find any info on how to sterilise medela products (pump parts or bottles) except that they can't be done in a microwave steamer, only the micro bags that medela sell.

Can they be sterilised in an electric steam steriliser? If so does anyone know which of the BPA-free electric steam steriliers the bits will fit in?

Any recommendations or advice on what not to buy would be much appreciated!

I'm not sure about these particular ones. I just wanted to say that just because they claim to help avoid nipple confusion, doesnt mean that they will. It's very much about the baby. Ideally you should wait for BFing to be established before pumping or introducing a bottle but obviously thats up to you.

I have a Medela Swing and I can fit all the parts to be sterilised in my Avent Electric Steam Steriliser :)

I use the medela bottle small and large bottles and they go in my tommee tippee steraliser no problem.

So glad I read this post - didn't realise that Medela swing pump couldn't go in a microwave steriliser!! :dohh::dohh: CAn I use cold water sterilising for it? Its at my Mum's at the mo in the Uk she's bringing it over for me so I can't get to read the instructions but want to be prepared....

Cold water sterilising is fine hun. This might sound obvious but DONT put the motor in the steriliser.....some people do and thats a £90 pump shagged :)
