:hi:

I have another question for you ladies :)

My doctor's referral to an endo finally went through and they called me today to book my appointment  3 more weeks!!

I have a million and one questions that I can't even formulate right now. I'm sure he'll ask for my medical history and that kind of stuff for the first appointment, but what kinds of questions should I ask?

What happened at your first appointment with a FS? I should also add that my doc thinks I may have PCOS (no cysts on ovaries though)... I'm wondering now if I should've been referred to a gynecologist..

Thanks :)

not sure what to expect, but you have me wondering if I should call now to try to make an appointment it seems alot of ppl have had to wait to get in to see the specialist.

Dont worry about it not being a gyno...these people are experts and this is their field!

What is a Reproductive Endocrinologist?
A reproductive endocrinologist is a type of medical doctor who specializes in treating people with reproductive disorders. Many infertile couples choose to see a reproductive endocrinologist when deciding upon fertility treatments. It is a reproductive endocrinologist's job to identify factors involved in your infertility and appropriate methods with which to treat these factors.
What does a Reproductive Endocrinologist Do?
A reproductive endocrinologist is trained to manage a number of different problems related to the reproductive system. Reproductive endocrinologists deal with:

  • hormonal disorders
  • menstrual problems
  • infertility
Im with one now due to me having had 2 mc's and it was found i had thyroid disease- and i will continue to be when i (hopefully) get pg again!

Id suggest you write down all the questions you can think of and bring it with you to the apmt. Usually these guys are very imformative and helpfull but it can be difficult to remember what you were thinking/wondering about sitting in your own living room :)

Good luck, hun!!!

The Endocrinologist is the best possible type of doctor you are dealing with right now. I've seen many many doctors, and only when I finally saw the Endocrinologist did I start getting answers/help/medication.

The doctor will probably start with some blood tests. Basic female/male hormones, thyroid and all that jazz. (Mine also did an ultrasound of my thyroid glands in my neck.) If you definitely get confirmed as PCOS, they will probably give you another blood test which checks your insulin resistence.

The kind of questions I asked were-

*How many tests do I need? How long till I get the results?
*What medication options do I have? Side effects? Length of medication?
*How long on this medication before I start seeing a difference to the PCOS side affects.
*What fertility options do I have?

I also have PCOS without the cysts on the ovaries. :hugs:
