Hi Everyone,

A quick question: Is anyone taking Menopur injection or has had it before? If so, how was it?

Yesterday was my first Menopur injection and it hurt pretty bad. The injection was fine and I couldn't feel anything when inserted but I think its the liquid that kills. I dont know if this is normal. I had Gonal-F last year which was so much better, totally painless! Any tips/advice would be much appreciated! x

Heart, menpour injection hurts because they are intramuscular. Not like gonal f which are subcutaneous. You can talk with your doc whether you can take cold compression to reduce the pain.

Cool - Ok thanks! Last night was my second day of Menopur and it was worse than the first day. The pain is just so bad it bring tears to my eyes but its just for few seconds. Soon as the needle is out I don't feel anything and I have no pain or bruises on that area so that's the good part.

My menopur injections are not intramuscular - they are subcutaneous. But, they always sting really bad. I've heard this is normal. I have to inject very, very slowly to tolerate it. HTH!

Yeah I didn't do mine intramuscular. But you are right the liquid really stings. I found going slowly also really helped.

Thanks ladies for those tips. I read that too, yesterdays one was not too bad. I warm up the area a little by rub it and I find this helps. I have heard of ice method and I dont think I will try that.

Try pinching the area you are injecting, I was told to do this, had some pain, but don't remember having it everytime.

Yeah I pinch the area, well not me but my husband. It does help. The injection seem much better than before. I heat the area and the liquid is injtected very slow.

Hi, it wasn't too bad for me once I got used to it.
Good luck,
Kate x

Kate - Wow you conceived naturally after 2 IVF's?? Thats so good! Congrats.

Just a quick question relating to Menopur -

How many days did you do your Menopur stims for before the egg collection?

I drummed for 13 days think the maximum they will stims you for is 14 days. They don,t want to over stimulite the eggs.

Oh ok cool. During my first IVF I did it for like 14 days, I hope this time it's much less. I just want to hurry the process but it's so nerve racking too.
