In a way it's quite sweet. It says 'thank you for posting' gives me a warm fuzzy feeling being thanked so often. Yes I know - I need to get out more

Unfortunately it's permanent. The little delay it causes provides the time that's necessary for data to replicate across all servers in a multiple server configuration. Without it you get a lot of errors because servers are trying to find posts before they're written.
