Hello! :)
So i have very long and irregular cycles naturally, like 200days ! :dohh:

So back in november my ob prescribed provera and last week she prescribed metaformin and clomid :happydance:

My doctors haven't diagnosed me with pcos, but I do have hypothyroidism. :grr:

She explained metaformin to me, but I just wasnt sure if anyone had any experience or any success with it? :)

Thanks so much!

Hi dear,

it's definitely worth a go! I have been diagnosed with pcos and I have been on metformin for 6 months and I lost a little bit of weight but although insuline is more balanced now, I should still eat healthier and lose a little more. I think it does help, but it can take a while to regulate your cycles and the first 2 weeks, I felt like a zombie, soooo sleepy and sick, but now I feel fine.

Have been on clomid 50 mg for 4 months and probably ovulated 3 out of 4 times with lovely 30 day cyces (much shorter than before) but no success yet despite using ovulation test kits. I have an appointment with fertility dude in a week, hope he has got better ideas. Side effects are lots of hot flushes, a little insomnia and a little ovulation pain, as well as being a drama queen more often than usual :-)

I wish you the best of luck, it's a step in the right direction and for most, the side effects are manageable. It will definitely increase your chance of getting pregnant. Hope you will get many more stories with more success than me, but who knows, the baby could just be around the corner.

Keep us updated about your experiences! :-)

I have noticed on metformin that my appetite has decreases sooo much!
and that if i over eat, i feel sick and I actually threw up last night

Heya :flower:

I am glad that metformin is nice to you and that the vomiting was just a one off thing. Hope it will help you to regulate your weight/insuline/cycles.

I was indeed quite dry with clomid but I bought preseed and that helped a lot, maybe it's worth buying it for backup because to be honest bding would have been almost impossible without it for me :nope:
Evening primrose oil or robitussin cough syrup 5 days before ovulation would be an option that I read about but I haven't tried it myself. If you try one or the other, let us know of your experience.

Puh, I am 10 dpo today on my 4th cycle of 50 mg clomid and bfn, also don't feel pregnant at all. I had such high hopes for clomid and yeah, I assume that I ovulated at least 3/4 times, 1st ovulation was confirmed with blood test. It's very frustrating and I don't know what to do next. But I have an appointment with the fertility dude on Monday, will keep you updated.

Good luck with clomid, hope it helps you. :hugs:

Hi!!!

I too took Met and clomid! I was on clomid 100mg and 1,500 met. I stopped taking the 1,500 met and reduced it to 500mg because it made me feel horrrrible!!!

The clomid also induced my ovulation and my ovaries would hurt like hell!!!

I gave them both a break and its been over a year now. It has regulated my cycle tremendously :) I went from 32 days to about 27-28days. :happydance:

but I'm now thinking about contacting my doctor for a new prescription for the clomid and met and really giving them another go!

All the best :)

Ui, you have been trying to conceive for quite a while too. I wish you all the best that clomid will work for you this time if you decided to take it.

Just wanted to give an update after my fertilitydude appointment. I am not happy at all with him. After waiting 5 months for the next appointment, I saw him 5 minutes max.
I was quite shocked as he said there are only two options for me now. Another 4 months of clomid 50 mg or straight to IVF. I don't want to start IVF just yet, if I can, I want to make my baby the natural way, not in a petri dish. On the other hand, I am glad that I have this as last resort for free on the nhs and the waiting list for IVF is only 6 weeks here.

I so hope that the baby decides to go the natural route. Good luck to you all too ladies. Fingers crossed.:flower:

your right you are very lucky that ivf is covered!

but thats crazy that they only spent 5 min with you! like thats what i hate about specialists, i feel like they dont feel like the "average" person is worth their special time

and thanks for your responce praying lady!
i hope you get ur bfp if you go clomid again!
was it hard being on a ttc break?

Not at all! It was easier than trying. It's alot of stress TTC! ugh. It's just dissapointing that nothing has not happened. STILL. ugh.
