Hi ladies.

I started 500mg of Met on Monday for pcos and have found that it makes me very very sleepy, but luckily no other side effects. I'm thinking of taking my up'd dose all at once (1000mg) at night together with dinner. These are the non extended release tabs. I will ask my RE, but doubt I'll change my mind either way due to a fear of falling asleep while driving to work or while at work.

I'm wondering if any of you have tried this method or use it now and what are some of the experiences you've had doing so?

Thanks!

Sleepiness usually goes away after a few weeks. Taking Metformin is like going on a low-carb diet. At first your body feels deprived of fast carbs (sugar!), but then it regulates and metabolizes proteins and fats more efficiently. Whatever you do, make sure you take Metformin with meals.

Oh and another thing! If you're trying to lose weight, make sure you still have good balanced meals. Starving yourself combined with Metformin can make you feel completely drained.
