Hi all,

I got a little puzzled by the lack of communication about booking in appointment so I called the hospital who organises such things today. Turns out they'd 'forgotten' to schedule it and now I can't have one until the 5th May when I'll be 15weeks!

I'm so cross and upset - the woman was really arsey with me on the phone as well and it totally wasn't my falt - my GP sent the form off two weeks ago.

Does anyone else thinkg this is a little late or am I being unreasonable?

May 5 does seem to be quite a ways away. What is the booking appointment for

Does seem a long way off. I am under the consultant at the local hospital, but had my booking in appointment with my community midwife. Could that be an option. When do they take blood for triple test/anaemia etc? Think it was around 13 weeks. By the way May 5th is a bank holiday in the UK:hi:

I know exactly how you feel. Here's what happened to me.

Originally had my scan booked for the 02/04 but had to go for an early scan at the weekend. They told me I was much earlier on in pregnancy that I thought so I should call the midwife on Monday for them to re-arrange another scan date. So I did and they told me that my midwife would call me back....today is Thursday and heard nothing, left a message this morning and still nothing so I called them again tonight. The woman got stroppy with me and said that my new appointment is in the post - 23/04 when I will be 13 weeks. NO ONE bothered to call me back to tell me this - typical NHS.

Im 8 weeks, and waiting for midwife to call me regarding my booking in appointment date, should hopefully see her within the next 2 weeks, as they say on the info sheet i was given when booking in, it's within 8 - 10 weeks.

I'm afraid I don't have a lot of faith in m/wives. I don't think they're particularly sympathetic to us first tri ladies. If you are in the UK I'd get back on the phone and demand an earlier appointment. There are some blood tests that need to be done at 10 weeks, so you can't wait this long for a booking in appointment. Good luck, and sorry you're being messed around already. :hugs:

Waiting for them to call back now.... They'll probably forget to do that as well

Hi, I had my booking appointment at 7 wks it was done by the community midwife at my home, demand an earlier appointment!!! Most people in the uk should have their first scan by 12-14 weeks at the latest, so 15 weeks is a long time away and thats not even your scan date! get cross with them say your worried things may not be going right in the pregnancy ( alittle white lie wouldnt hurt would it?!!!)
good luck with the phone call!

You don't need to have had your booking in appointment by your first scan, but you should definately have your scan around 12 weeks, especially if you want to have the Nuchal Fold checked for Downs Syndrome (only done 11-13weeks. Before 11 weeks the scan is technically difficult because the baby is so tiny and, after 14 weeks, excess fluid may be absorbed by the baby's developing lymphatic system), so call up someone and get them to book it. I just had all my bloods done a few weeks ago, including the AFP, at my 16 week appointment, so there isn't anything in this area that really needs to be done before then.

You should definately demand a booking in appointment before 12 weeks though - it must be your right in this country to have one between 8-12 weeks!

Good luck hun!:hugs:

I would call & see if you can be put on a cancellation list for an earlier appointment. Then you could even call periodically & check if anything has opened up. Remember, the nicer you are to them the more likely they are to be helpful. You have to have a relationship with this office for some time to come & being bitchy isn't going to make it easier in the long run (although it may be satisfying in the short run!)
