Mildly anemic.

I had my GTT yesterday and the nurse callee me back today with results. I'm good on the gestational diabetes but they did say I was mildly anemic and that I needed to start taking an iron supplement. Does anyone have any experience with this and what does it mean for my baby and I?

I was anaemic during pregnancy too, are you taking prenatal vitimins? I started on extra iron supplements as well. It made me really dizzy and i craved non food things, biggest craving was ice and chalk! haha. but all what is meant for me was that I got a needle straight after labour to get the placenta out quickly. but my baby and I are fine

If its mild it doesn't really mean anything, just take your iron and you'll be fine I had it quite severe and they were on about me needing iv iron and a blood transfusion after birth, I didn't need it in the end though it caused me to be breathless and dizzy a lot, I think next time I'm gonna take iron from the word go

Pretty common hun, just start taking an iron supplement with a small iron content or eat a bit more red meat, it isn't anything to worry about really

Thanks ladies. I wasn't too concerned as the nurse didn't seem worried about it at all. I just wanted to be sure. I'm taking a prenatal already. And ill be off to get my iron supplement today after work. Thanks again!

The midwife said i'm anaemic as well, although apparently it was an underlying issue before I was pregnant in my medical records but they forgot to let me know . I've been taking my iron tablets for 2 weeks now and I have so much more energy but on the downside I'm super constipated So yea just a warning, remember to eat more fiber and you'll be fine.

Haha, ill keep that in mind thanks. im hoping ill have more energy to because i feel beat alllll the time.
