Hi Ladies

Today at 7w5 I'm due to have my confirmation scan that baby didn't make it and the heart beat has stopped. I cried for a week non stop and almost feel abit numb now. I just need this to be over with :O(

I'm really keen to avoid surgery, as do not want to risk damage to my cervix, so will be opting for the Misoprostol pill.

All i seem to read are horror stories of things going wrong :O(

Has anyone used it and its done what its meant to without complications?

I'm actually petrified right now

Thanks x

Hi honey :( I'm so sorry for your loss, i have been crying for a week too :( I just did this on Monday with misoprosotal - i didn't want to risk the damage either. It is a better route, in my opinion - and even though it is painful, the physical pain kept me distracted from the emotional for a bit. Definitely make sure you get the painkillers. I took about 10 percocet Monday night, throughout the night.

I took 2 painkillers right after putting the pills in (there are 4) and then laid down with my legs up for 45 minutes, it's important not to go to the bathroom or anything for a while after the pills are in, they will fall out...one of mine fell out later, and 2 almost fell out but got them back in, but my dr said as long as they are being absorbed for the first hour or so, they will work. I didn't feel anything for about 3 hours, right when i had decided to go to bed, and the intense cramping/contractions started - for about 8 hours - if you can get ahead of the pain with the painkillers, that is ideal - i couldn't seem to get ahead, and was in too much pain to be able to even rest...fell asleep briefly a few times, then was in very intense pain again. It seems like a long time, but if you do it at night i think it helps. The next morning around 9am i went to the bathroom to pee, and the baby fell out into the toilet. I scooped it out and put it in a bag...the cramping subsided for the most part then - at least the horrible cramping. I was worried all night that i wasn't bleeding enough or passing anything - it will come.

<3 :(

Thanks alot for sharing your experience, its made me feel loads better x

We were both on the first trimester boards at the same time, i read quite a lot of your posts, I was so sorry to see you here on these boards too :O(

big hugs xx

You too girl :( I hate this feeling :( I am glad I could help a little bit! <3

I'm not sure mine is a non-scary story, but I thought I would share anyway. I also opted for the Misoprostel because I was concerned about complications from the D&C. My first dose of Misoprostel (when I passed the sac) actually did not hurt very much at all. There was A LOT of bleeding (like an insane period) all night, but I actually had very little cramping.

A few days later I started spotting/cramping again, so my doctor rushed me in for an ultrasound, which suggested an incomplete miscarriage. I took another dose of Misoprostel. The second dose WAS a bad experience because I didn't stop bleeding and had to go to the ER. I ended up having the D&C at the ER (with local anesthetic).

HAving been through both, I can tell you that Misoprostel was MUCH less painful than a D&C w/local anesthetic. Even after all of that, I would choose Misoprostel again without question. I think it is a much safer alternative than a D&C and not as painful (unless you use general anesthesia during the D&C, of course).

My experience is also really rare statistically; more often than not Misoprostel does what it's supposed to do the first time around. I was terrified of using it too, but in my experience it really was not that painful at all.

I wish you the best of luck... you can get through this!!!

Hello:)

Yesterday I took my misoprostel at 10am, I was perfectly fine all day with only slight cramping. But after 12 hours of taking the tablet the pain kicked in, I was in absolute agony the painkillers were doing nothing for me :( it was like having contractions, the pain would build up and was really intense, then for a couple of minutes it would stop, then repeat :( I tried every position to help with the pain, curling up was the best for me, then about 5 hours later I passed out exhausted & in pain.

I've got the 4 internal tablets tomorrow at the hospital, got to stay there for 6 hours while passing the baby, the strongest painkiller they will give you is pethadine so I'm hoping it works.

Sorry if mine sounds scary but honestly I'd rather go through this now than have a d&c with all it's complicating and risks of infection :(
And it's more natural

I hope it will all go ok for you xx

i took it back in june...
i took them orally and it took 7 days to work
but i felt the contractions it's not as bad
as many people put it to be, i actually found it
better then getting a d&c done

Hiya. I took misopritol for mmc earlier in the year. I was so scared after reading stuff on here but my experience was fine. I had no pain whatsoever. Hope this helps! Guess it just depends on you and your body and how you normally react to periods. Hope it goes ok. xx

I had Misoprostal for my MMC which was a blighted ovum and 12 and a half weeks. It was recommended for me to get a d and c but believe it or not I was more frightnened of being under anestetic.

My "product of conception" as they like to say was quite big (empty sack) so it did tak a bit longer for it to be expelled. I didnt take painkillers untill quite a bit into it because I didnt want to use up all my pain killer options before "the real pain started". I managed the pain with just 2 paracetamol and 2 co-drydamol and it took 2 days for the pregnancy to pass, it actually happened at home because I didnt want to stay in hospital any longer.

Regarding to pain, it is quite painful and it is like contractions, but each time the pain builds up you go to the bathroom and after a very very heavy flow is subsides..but theis happens quite alot...so its not constant pain...its not pleasant and you feel pretty crap because your going through this pain for nothing, but I promise you its not anything you cant handle....dont worry about it...I was terrified at first but the nursng staff were all very helpful...as long as you have a bit of support(I toll my mum as I think hubby would have gotten on my nerves) you will be fine I promise..x.x.x.

I had it with my stillborn (27 weeks). It is the only thing that would get my cervix open. It was painful, but it wasn't enough that I knew I was in labor. (My MC was as painful as labor.) I went from 2cm to delivery is 2 hours with constant contractions, but they were completely bearable. I would use it again over D&C. My MMC started on it's own the day we found out the baby was gone.

I found it to be a calm experience actually. I am so happy I chose that option instead of D&C (I was 10 weeks)

I didn't really find it any more painful than horrible period cramps. But the misoprostal didn't expel everything when I took it. I naturally expelled everything else about two weeks later. I took it last month. Part of me is glad I did it that way, the other part of me wishes I would have had a D&C because this process has been drawn out for me.
