Mixed feeding

My 8 month old son is fed elecare formula 8 hours a night through NG but is allowed to bf on demand all day as well as have his solids. He's failure to thrive with allergies to milk, eggs and bananas as well as told to avoid soy for him. I'm wondering how to go about bfing him so as to try not to get a drop in supply. I cant feed him while his drip is on so pretty much 9-5 at night, he will eat pretty well during the day but is taking less. Not sure whether to go with that or try cluster feeding him?

Either just oder him the boob more, or try pumping a bit after a few feeds a day.
