ive read that alot people leave the bolied water to cool then leave the bottles on the side at room temperature and just add powder when needed, does the powder mix into room temperature water? im making all my bottles fresh at the minute but the little man is going crazy waiting for them x

i have always just made up a batch, put them in the fridge and heat as required. much easier. xx

I agree mixing up a batch in the fridge is much easier and less time of baby crying :)

i mix/add the formula to the water after ive warmed it back up.

keely.

I found that making them all up then putting them in the fridge was easiest when we were mostly FFing.

However, always make sure you add the formula to as close to boiling water as you can get. The formula itself is not sterile, so the boiling water steralises it for you. Then let them cool and refrigerate them.

We make 24 hours worth every evening. As rafwife said we try to keep the water hot (though we do let it cool a bit so we don't burn our hands ) add powder, and put immediately into the fridge. We reheat as needed

Ok, in two days I've been called sparks and PP. Am I that forgettable?

sorry  no you aren't of course not...I'm just tired

s'alright, you're not the first person

Yes it does, just needs a quick shake.

I give my baby his bottle at room temp and he is fine with this as it's the way it has been since he started getting a bottle.

Get a powder dispenser and measure out your scoops into it then it's even quicker to make the bottle up when required.

My hv gave me a good tip when Charlie was young, and it still works with Ben.

Currently Ben takes between 2 and 4 oz, so I make up 4oz bottles. The way I do it is to sterilise, then put 3oz of boiling water in, and then store them on the kitchen worktop. Then when I want a bottle making, I boil the kettle fresh and top up the now cold water to make 4oz. This takes it to exactly the right temperature for LO to drink and the powder mixes perfectly.

I sterilize the bottles, boil the kettle and pour the water in first then put the powder in. The powder isn't steriile so it says it needs the hot/boiling water to kill the bacteria. However lots of people seem to add it to room temp water and their bubs are just fine!

I boil the kettle - Put the water in - Put the powder in - Shake - And leave on the side. If she's having it straight away I cool it under a cold running tap.

powder needs to go into water that is at least 70 degrees to kill the bacteria in the powder, room temp isnt hot enough,
i boil the kettle leave it 15mins so isnt to hot to handle, make 4 or 5 bottles and put them straight in the fridge i reheat as and when i need them if i go out i warm with a flask and take ready made.

you imagine making hot chocolate leaving it on the worktop then a few hours later going and drinking it, i know for sure i'd be worried it'd be going off after an hour or so its cows milk you wouldnt leave a carton of that on the side either you'd put it in the fridge , same concept..

the reason all this make as you use came about is certain bugs were found in the powder but these bugs are killed with 70 degree temp water. and also some pratt fed their baby milk that was left in a bottle and had gone sour made baby very poorly.
xx

i make up a batch of 6, with boiled water and add the powder as needed. i feel bad now as i didn't no you should add the powder to boiling water x

i know lots of people who make bottles up with room temp water everyones different we all put our own twist on it.
your daughter looks really healthy so carry on as you are if its working for you and her why change dont feel bad. i only do what i do cos thats the way i did it 14 yrs ago,
i told my mw i werent going to waste 45 mins waiting for kettles to boil and cool down etc etc for every feed how stooopid is that i told her haha.
so dont feel bad.

our hv told us to pour boiling water into a thermos flask (which doesn't need to be sterile - i guess cos of the boiling water) and thren you can use that to make up feeds as and when you need them. That's the advice the Dept of Health gives. It kee;ps the water above 70 degrees and then I just leave the bottle to cool in a jug of cold water for a few mins before feeding

I make the bottles up with powder and store in the fridge. I only make up 3 at a time, that was my compromise, lol.
A midwife even told me to pour the boiling water into the bottles and store them in the fridge, then heat to babies prefered temp and add powder as needed. I wasnt convinced by this, as I'd heard the water needs to be at least 70oC to kill bacteria.
