Apologies for the delay in getting round to typing this but i've had my hands full :winkwink: Also apologies as its a bit long.....

After a very tearful Friday (25th May) hormones were on overdrive! I managed to get an appointment for a sweep with the midwife on Monday (28th May). As it turned out I never made it to that appointment but as I was overdue it was a mini goal to look forward to over the weekend.

On Saturday morning (26th May) I woke up with a funny deep aching feeling low down in my pelvis which only lasted around 5 seconds at a time but I soon realised they were becoming regular but nothing particularly notable. I only noticed them as I was looking out for every potential sign lol. As the day went on they started to radiate to my back and by the evening they were quite noticable but not painful more uncomfortable. I managed to sleep through the night and woke up in the morning feeling a bit discouraged that they hadn't escalated overnight but did feel hopeful that It was a more intense version of yesterdays pain that had woken me up. I quickly realised that they were quite a bit worse than the day before and mentioned to my OH that maybe today was the day but I didn't want to get my hopes up too much. The pains were pretty random, some lasting 45 seconds others 10 seconds and I didn't take too much notice as I thought they should be a lot more regular and not so random to be actually doing anything.

By lunchtime I walked down the road with my eldest daughter and had a really painful contraction which got my hopes up again but then they seemed to be pretty random and not seeming to get any worse or closer together. I think I was in denial at this point. Although I'd had two children before I was induced with them both and what I was feeling was nothing like I remembered feeling with them. Got my hopes up again at around 1.45pm when I had the first bit of my bloody show, told OH maybe something was happening after all.

By around 4ish I decided maybe I should get checked as I'd had a lot more show and they pains, although random still were getting slightly more intense interspaced with milder ones.

Went to the hospital and saw a complete bitch of a midwife who told me I didn't look in pain. Didn't want to examine me and told me I definitely wasn't in labour. Asked her to examine me which she eventually did and said I was 2cm but in a woman who has had children previously thats what she'd expect. Felt like crying as I was sent away and went to the loo on the way out, had a really bad contraction in the loo and another one as I was walking out of the building, these were ones that you couldn't walk through. Midwife had told me not to return until they were at least 5 mins apart and lasting at least a minute.

Went back home and they continued to get worse but not any closer together so I wasn't sure what to do, but still having that nasty midwifes words ringing in my ears I didn't dare ring the hospital back.

Finally at around 8.15pm I decided enough was enough, I was in agony and they suddenly started to come much closer together. I'd got my tens machine on which wasn't particularly effective at this point and I rang the hospital back. They told me to come up again and they would check me.

On the way to the hospital, a five minute journey I had three monster contractions and was wincing in the car, felt I couldn't sit down anymore. Got to the hospital around 8.45 and waited to be seen in triage where I had another couple of really bad ones, I was standing up as I couldn't bear to sit down. Got seen about 8.55 and midwife (different one thank god) examined me and said I was 4-5 cms. I was relieved I'd finally made some progress and midwife asked if I'd like to go to the birth centre which I got excited about as I'd been booked under delivery suite. She went off to ring birth centre to get me transferred and I thought to myself I was in for another 3-4 hours at least. Tried to get off couch to put leggings back on and contractions just got ten times worse. OH was trying to help me, tens machine got stuck to couch and it all went a bit mad after that. I stood up and was in excruciating pain, had another two contractions and then felt that the baby was coming. I thought it must all be in my head as I was only 4-5 cms. Told OH to get midwife back, I was quite hysterical by this stage (only about 5 mins since she'd left the room). Midwife told OH she wouldn't be long was still on the phone. Told him to get her now I can feel the head coming, and felt very warm and wet in my underwear, later found out it was some bleeding. I was still standing bent over the couch. He went and shouted her and suddenly 4 midwifes rushed in, told me to climb onto couch and wheeled me out of triage and into delivery room. I think I sounded like some kind of wild animal being wheeled through the corridor and all I could hear was the midwife telling me to breath.

Got into delivery room and they told me to get onto the bed but I got stuck halfway through transfering with another agonising contraction. Got me onto the bed and midwifes took off my leggings, flip flops and underwear. (I felt sooo out of control it was horrible and all I could do was keep my eyes tightly shut lol. They gave me gas and air and I sucked on that for all I was worth, shouting in between if I do a poo i'm really sorry :dohh:. I could hear voices and then suddenly heard OH say I think she's on her way even quicker than we thought. A midwife told me to open my legs to help the baby out and I couldn't believe she was there, apparently she was actually crowning at this stage and I didn't even realise.

Within seconds she slid out, still in the sac with waters etc all intact! This was actually a blessing as I was Group b strep positive and they didn't stand a chance at getting the iv antibiotics into me. Midwife broke waters and removed sac and Isobelle was placed onto me at 9.29pm weighing 7lb 5 and measuring 51cms. I was in complete shock at how quickly I'd gone from 4-5cm to her coming!
