Hi ladies
I wanted to share my birth story with you now that I have a chance.
I was planning to vbac this pregnancy. I had a c-section with my first because she was breech and my ecv failed. Well this LO has been head down since 28 weeks so we were a go for vbac.
Baby was measuring rather large on her ultrasounds and the Dr mentioned that he would schedule me for a repeat c-section this Monday (August 20th) if I had not gone into labor before that day. On Friday I went to my last appointment with my obstetrician for my pre-op. They decided to do a cervical check and I was long, thick, and a fingertip. We all figured there would definitely be no baby before Monday, so me and hubby went about finishing up the rest of what needed to be done. We started nesting and ended up taking apart and cleaning the garage by throwing out the old things. We also rearranged the house, mopped, bathrooms, windows etc etc. We rented a movie and bought things to make personal pizza's that way DD, hubby, and I could hang out together just the three of us one last night.
I decided to take a quick break and sit down for a moment. I felt like I really needed to pee and went to the rest room. When I sat down only a few drips came out. I thought nothing of it until I suddenly went to wipe and I got a huge contraction. As soon as the contraction started there was a gush of water. I went to clean up and the same happened again. We grabbed our stuff and went into the hospital for our vbac!
I was still only 1cm and not effaced so was told to walk for 2 hours. I came back and was a tight 2 cm and 50% so was given a birthing ball and then told to walk for another hour. At this point I was having AWFUL back labor and my contractions were two minutes apart. i came back after the second walk and was a full 3 cm and 70% effaced. The nurses decided to order my epidural at this point since at my hospital it is required for a vbac. I was given the epi and checked a few hours later., still 3 cm but now was 70% effaced.
Was told to try and get some rest. LO's heart rate dropped a few times and I was told I needed to roll to my other side. At 8 am and after 14 hours of labor my Dr. came to check me. You would not believe it but I had SHRUNK to 1 cm!! At this time they decided to do a repeat/emergency c-section for failure to progress.
Karlee Mae was born August 18th at 9:29 am. She is 8 lbs 12 oz and 19 3/4 inches long. She was born with brown hair on her due date. I am in love and so is her daddy and her sister. We are being released tomorrow. I got staples this time, so I will get those removed tomorrow.
