Hi friends- I posted a reply on Blu's long going thread tonight.
On this new topic - Wondering if anyone's doctor has an opinion on this? (I have yet to schedule my follow-up appointment..dreading it!!)
Doing some research and I'm sure some of you have read online that women are more fertile the first month or two after a m/c. Not sure if this is myth?
As for waiting, some doctors advise 2-3 cycles so that the uterine lining builds back up.
I read red raspberry leaf can help with this.
Besides folic acid of course, also research says COQ-10 is good for ttc after 35. Also, Vitamin D - as most people are deficient (especially high mg. dosage during this dreadful winter), and iron is necessary to take after a m/c.
There are a lot of herbs mentioned, such as Vitex, that I'm really not sure how they work.

Just thinking out loud here on ttc..... :)

Thanks!

Hi Hopie. I'm sorry about your loss. I just had one as well and it's just so sad. I didn't ask the doctor if I was more fertile, but she did give me the green light to try right away. Mine was an early loss that passed naturally. I've also heard this more fertile thing and am wondering if it's true or not. For vitamins/supplements, I've been taking pre-natal vitamins, dha, folate, and rx for vitamin d since my levels were very low in December.

Sorry for your loss , I was told by the gyno after my MMC that most ladies fall quickly after and I'm really hoping im one of those xx good luck

Just to add my two cents here, I think it depends...my first miscarriage was a about 9 years ago and afterwards I concieved my first born who is now 8 ;) however my most recent mc was a mmc and I ended up not ovulating my first 2 cycles afterwards, that's not to say I wasn't more fertile however maybe my age (32) combined with the mmc made my body so out of wack that it didn't really matter anyhow because I wasn't ovulating!

There are no hard and fast rules. Some women fall pregnant immediately after a miscarriage. My doctor advised me to wait 1 cycle. Like jlw617, I didn't ovulate for the first 2 cycles.
Good luck to you, hope it will happen quickly for you!

Thank you all so much!
I do think waiting one cycle is a good idea.
I am getting up there in age!! Scared to try again (after 2 losses), but do think the desire will someday outweigh the fear. Thank you again and best of luck to you.

My doc advised me to wait 3 cycles after my big MC & follow-up D&C last year. I didn't ovulate for a couple of months afterward, anyway. I got pregnant 3 months after the D&C but lost it at 5 weeks.

After that chem this year, I started TTC right away. There was no wait time; it actually shortened my cycles, and I ovulated less than 2 weeks after the bleed. 2nd cycle, pregnant.

My nurse told me that women are more fertile for the first 3 months or so after a MC. I remember hearing somewhere that you're more likely to double-ovulate.

Congrats Dill on your :bfp:! How exciting!!! Sending sticky vibes your way.

My dr told me to wait 2 cycles for the lining to build up. It was hard to wait but I dont want to go through another m/c so I did what I was told. What did your dr advise you?

Honestly unless your doctor is saying there's a major medical reason, you don't have to wait for even one cycle, it's your body, do the research and you'll see that one of the biggest reasons Drs have you wait even though they won't say so is for dating purposes (if you were to get a bfp before your first cycle) if you want to try and you didn't have a very traumatic mc, then you should try :) also if you're worried about lining problems, buy some natural topical progesterone cream (you don't want anything synthetic!) I buy mine from Amazon, it's called kokoro cream. Hope that helps
