What is everyones experience and/or opinion on the good ole "wives tale" of morning sickness being more during pregnancy with a girl and less with a boy?

I had terrible morning (allday) sickness when I was pregnant with my daughter, even some weight loss.

This is my second pregnancy and I am only 4 weeks so its pretty early to determine if I will have the same thing, but this far I haven't felt it in anyway Fingers crossed.

My first two pregnancies were so different, like night and day. DD1 I was a little sick in the beginning, some aversions, etc. DD2 I was so sick I lost 32 pounds, was sick the entire time, just completely different...still girl lol. This time I've only had a couple bad sick days, so wondering if maybe boy? lol but I'm not counting on it as a for sure thing ;)

I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum until week 20 when I was pregnant with my son so I don't think sickness is a gender predictor. Hope you don't get sick this time round. :flower:xxxx

I don't know If I believe in that, however, with my son I was hardly ever sick, maybe 5/6 times? however until I was 15 weeks I had awful nausea.. I was constantly feeling sick and couldn't really manage to eat much. It got to the point I was nibbling on junk as it was the easiest thing to nibble on, as I'd only have a few bits then chuck it away. Wasn't worth cooking meals lol! This time round I know it will be different as I have my LO and Fiance to keep me on point ;)

Yeah I don't know that I really believe it. But definitely hoping for a boy and to not be so sick this time around :)

My pregnancies were exactly the same in regards to morning sickness so I think it's false.

I had bad morning nausea with my son, with this pregnancy the nausea is not bad but it is all day long.

I had no morning sickness with my DD but my friend and MIL were very sick with their boys. I don't think its anything to go by personally

I was sick loads more with DS than DD so I don't think it predicts anything just that sickness is more "likely" with a girl xx

I wouldn't call it an old wives tale, so much as a big steaming pile of BS. Morning sickness is related to how well your body copes with the hormones, nothing to do with gender. Both my boy and girl gave me similar amounts of nausea. I've been sicker for longer with this pregnancy, but thats cos I had 2 sacs to begin with so extra hormones.

I have 3 children and my boy pregnancy was by far the worst than my girls. I knew instantly I was having girls both times.

Nope. My mum has 6 kids, 4 girls 2 boys and she had terrible sickness with all. My cousin just had a girl and had hardly any sickness.

I don't know, really, but I'm about 87% sure that it's an old wives' tale.

With my daughter, I was sicker than a dog. This time, I get a bit gaggy when my stomach is empty, and I need to eat...so, I really don't know.

I was much sicker with my DS. With my DD my morning sickness didn't start until 15 weeks and then it was only usually once a day.

With my first I had morning sickness that lasted the entire nine months I had a boy! With my second I didn't have any at all and it was also a boy! This time I have it so bad I am still on the prescription for it! I don't know what baby is yet but will next Friday so I will tell you if according to the old wives tale if it's right or not.

It relates with my two so far ...

First was a girl, felt so sick until well after 12 weeks. Dh had to cook I couldn't stand the smell or feel of anything espesh raw meat. And meat had to be cooked to a crisp before I could eat it.

Ds - nothing, couldn't wait for each scan as I didn't believe I was pregnant until I could feel him.

Feel the same this time so convinced atm it's a boy x
