Hi ladies,

I am 25 weeks along and have anterior placenta. I have been feeling the baby everyday since 21 weeks.

There are few days when I feel her throughout the evening until i sleep.
But yesterday I didn't feel her all day and at night i got so worried I was lying down whole time to feel her and I felt just 1 2 kicks then. And went to sleep disappointing :( and woke up every 2 hours to feel her.

Can you please tell me how many times a day do you feel your baby at 25 weeks? Is it normal to feel her just once throughout the day or I should call my OB?

And are we supposed to feel 10 kicks an hour like I have read. Because there are definitely days when i don't feel 10 kicks an hour. She kicks 1 2 times and then quiet for several hours.

Thanks in advance.

I am 23 weeks tomorrow, I didn't want to read and run. I think you should call your dr just to ease your mind. I don't feel 10 kicks an hour, like I said I am 23 weeks and also have anterior placenta. I am sure all is well but I'd call dr just to put you at ease!

18 weeks with anterior and i hardly feel anything yet it's not nice.
Midwife told me 10 kicks a day after 24 weeks.
Call someone to be advised what to do.

Hi sweets. I don't even have an anterior placenta and feeling the babies movements were hit and miss at that point for me! Where I'm from they don't do baby kick counts until 27 or so and even then it's 6 in two hours. It's not unusual for baby to spin and change positions at your gestation, so I wouldn't be surprised if baby is facing your back!
Of course it's always nice to get doctors reassurance so I recommend that but I've heard of women not even feeling baby until third and having healthy babies. As long as you're feeling daily movement at this point i think it's okay. Just relax and speak to your care giver when you can. :)

Hey there! I had an anterior placenta with Mesa. I wasnt advised to start kick counts until 27 weeks...I would feel her regularly at your point, but it wasnt predictable and she definitely had her quiet days and the movement still wasnt very strong yet, so I think she probably moved more than I noticed or I would have "was that her..?" or "Was THAT her..?" moments.

Call your OB if you're concerned, that what they are there for, but rest assured it can still be hit and miss and quiet days in there :flower:

OMG thank you girls you are such a big support.

I have been feeling her everyday. Its just since yesterday i didn't feel her much just once ( 2 or 3 kicks), then again a very quite day today.

Its just the feeling that at 25 weeks I am supposed to feel her throughout the day is keeping me really worried.

I am going to call my OB anyway just to re-assure. I really hope everything is okay.

Thanks a lot!

I have an anterior placenta as well. I felt baby starting at about 15-16 weeks. Surprised as I read and was told it might be harder. I'm now 33, almost 34 weeks and all I have to say is ... wow! :haha: Anyway, my point is, even now there are days where the baby is quiet. Baby can be very active for a week to two weeks and then all of a sudden have 1-2 very quiet days where I don't notice much and kicks feel a lot lighter. It has happened since about 22 weeks. What I've noticed about this is it is around the same time baby is having a growth spurt. :baby:

If you're concerned call the doctor but it can also be baby positioning, turning, etc.

Same here. Second preg with anterior. I'm 24w now bit certain do not feel baby every hour. Far from it!

I got a cheap Doppler first time round to ease my mind and glad I did! I feel baby more when lying down ready for bed but not necessarily throughout the day. Plus I thought babies do sleep a lot in womb so wouldn't move much when asleep?

I'm sure all ok BUT medical
Professionals prefer false alarms and to reassure x

I did call my OB and she made me come in to hospital to make sure. They put me on the monitor and even while doing so my girl gave a big kick may be because nurse was pressing a bit on my belly and she didn't like the pressure.

Or she just wanted to freak me out and start kicking as soon as I was in hospital lol.

Anyway they monitored me for a while and then sent back saying everything is okay. The doc says baby is too small right now and it is okay to not feel 10 counts even when she is active at this point.

They say you should not start counting kicks until 28 weeks. And everybody is different some feel more and some less.

Thanks for all the support girls.

Lovely to hear good news. My lo seems more active when I worry and my heart beats fast. She must hear.it and wake up

I had this last week. Apparently according to the midwife no patterns form till 28 weeks properly. I went in and all they do is check babies heart
They Can't monitor baby at this stage.

I had the same thing anterior placenta as well. No movement within her usual times.

Xx

I had an anterior placenta with my daughter. I didn't feel her move at all until 25 weeks! And not consistently til even further - I also felt her "roll" as oppose to "kicks" if you are ever in doubt hun call your midwife, doctor or hospital ward so they can ease your mind

:flow:

This has been happening to me just lately, it's so scary. Zach's kicks were SO frequent and strong up until around a week ago, at which point I barely felt anything except in the evenings, and even then it's light. Movement has picked up a bit again now, but it's still not what it was. Certainly don't feel him every couple of hours. More like every 4 hours or so I'd say. I do have an anterior placenta, and I have a doppler so can hear he's alive and well, it's just a worry! Nearly went in with reduced foetal movement but whenever I make up my mind to do it he wakes up again!

It's coincided with a period of real stress so I wonder if it's related.

I'm 24+5 and have an anterior placenta. Some days I feel baby loads and others, like today, I'll only get one or two kicks the whole day. When this happens my midwife told me to lie on my side and drink a cold drink. Usually this makes baby wake up a bit more.

I think it's best to learn your own baby's pattern. If little movement is common for you, then you shouldn't worry too much until you know something isn't ordinary. If you're worried at any time, call your midwife. It's what they're there for :)
