Mucus Plug

Had an appointment yesterday, I am 37 weeks 5 days... I am 50% effaced and 2cm dilated. I have been having on and off contractions about a half hour apart. I think I just lost my mucus plug (globby looking, bit darker in color than my normal discharge, some stringy parts), what do I do now? Should I call my doctor? My edd is December 28th but clearly he wants to come early with my dilation being 2 cm already... HELP!

You do nothing unless your contractions pick up. I lost mine on Tuesday and still nada damn it...

That's the thing... I started having what I didn't know to be contractions yesterday for the first time and had my first cervical exam to check me and so what i am feeling are contraction. At the time they were about a half hour apart but only had like 6 of them all day. They weren't going to check me but i asked them to to confirm what i was feeling was contractions and i was 2 cm dilated, so good thing i had them check. Today i had about 4 of them all day about a half hour apart. At about 7:30 i started to lose my mucus plug and then saw part of it again when i just used the restroom. I am feeling contractions (shooting pressure and then about 10 minutes later pressure but not necessarily shooting pressure). I am very worried and confused about what i am feeling and not sure about....

Your body is gearing up, but contractions must become regular. I have similar situation with you. Got checked on Monday and I was 3cm, she stripped my membranes, lost my plug the next day, contracting on and off during the day/ night but they stop at some point.

Don't worry too much cause real contractions should become predictable... Every so often, but they may differ in strength at first. Just keep timing!

It could be quite a while yet. I had 5 days from first contraction to admission to hospital. Rest as much as you can and wait for contractions to become more regular. best of luck x

I don't know about contractions; with DD I started loosing my mucus plug at 37 weeks and my water broke at 38+4. I had to be induced though because labor wouldn't start. With this pregnancy I've been loosing small bits of my mucus plug for the last 2-3 days, but I'm not expecting labor anytime soon.

I have heard after the mucus plug comes labor will start somewhat soon...within the next week or so. Commonly I have heard it occurs within the next 2 days.

I lost my mucus plug and went straight into labour with contractions!
