I went to the hospital at 8pm on Feb 28th to be induced at 39 weeks 1 day. I got induced before my due date because I had been having constant contractions since Feb 13th and had been to the hospital for early labor twice. I was completely miserable and wasn't sleeping at all.

We got to the hospital at 8pm and I was hooked up to the monitors to check on baby and see if I was having contractions. At 930pm they inserted the cytotec and told me I was 2cm. The contractions started about an hour later but didnt hurt. They came in to do the second dose of cytotec at 1am but my contractions were only 2-4 min apart so they couldn't do it. At 155am I felt an odd trickle down my leg and then a gush and realised my water broke. They did the test and saw it was my waters and checked me and I was at a 3. Contractions didnt ever really get intense or any closer together than 2-4 min. Doc came and checked me at 7am and I was still a 3. I was upset because I thought I would be further along. Contractions continued to get more painful throughout the day but then slowed down again. At 130pm doc came and checked me ane I was still at a 3 but 70% effaced. At that point I decided the contractions werent strong enough and asked for the pitocin. That got started at about 2 or 230pm. Contractions started coming hard 2 min apart. I managed for about 2 hours then gave in and got the epi. That was put in at 4pm and was awesome. It made my belly completely numb but I could still move my legs and feel pressure on my cervix. I couldnt feel the contractions at all. Took a nap and woke up about 6pm and the pressure in my cervix and bum was getting worse. At 730 the pressure was still getting worse so doc examined me and I was 4 almost 5 and stretchy also completely thinned out. Over the next half hour or so the pressure got worse and worse and I started to shake uncontrolably. About 8pm I told DH to get the nurse I was feeling pushy. Nurse came in and checked me and I was fully dilated and ready to go. I had gone from 5-10cm in just under an hour. My body started pushing on its own while waiting for the doc. When she finally got there I couldnt hold her in anymore. I pushed maybe 2 or 3 times and she started to crown. Got her head out with two more pushes and her body with one more. She was born at 832pm nearly 24 hours after induction started. My epi had long worn off so I felt everything so got a part of my wanted natural birth. Managed to not tear at all and placenta popped out after doc let cord stop pulsing and DH cut it. Had immediate skin to skin for about 20 min and then they took her and weighed her. 8lbs 7oz and 21 inches long. Also a full head of thick hair! I didnt get my natural birth I wanted but it still was an amazing birth.

So glad for you, she's gorgeous! I really enjoyed your story, I've also been having constant contractions for the past 6 weeks or so, so I'm likely to be induced soon. So it was good to read :)

Thanks everyone! We hit three weeks old this past Saturday and we are doing great! She has been a bit of a colicky baby but otherwise she is wonderful. Loves to be held all the time but I can't say that I don't enjoy that :)

Congrats!!! Sounds like the birth went almost to plan. :hugs:

I'm curious though, why did the epi wear all the way off? Did you ask for it to be turned off?

Hope recovery has been kind to you! :flower:

I'm not entirely sure it wore off. It didn't really numb everything to begin with. Only my tummy was numb so I couldn't feel the contractions but I could still feel everything else. Like when she put my cath in I could still feel it. I could still move my legs and feel them pretty much. I don't know why it didn't completely numb me but I didn't mind as long as I couldn't feel the contractions.

Recovery has been amazing! Easiest one out of the three and she was the biggest out of them!

Have you had your little one yet? I can imagine your getting a bit fed up by now if not!
