I'm new to the group so i'd thought id share my story!!
(I was told at the age of 15 id never be able to have a child & if i did, i wouldnt make it past a few weeks of gestation)
- I started preterm labor at 32 weeks. I had a regular appt where i was informed that in a half a week i went from 0cm & 0% thinned to 3cm and 70% thinned. Not what i wanted to hear. i was so utterly scared for my sons life. I was sent to maternity to get 2 doses of steroids to help my little guys lungs just in case he did come. after being hooked up to the monitors, my nurse asked me if i could feel anything, i said no and asked why... she then told me i was contracting every couple minutes. I was for sure in labor before they had even given me any shots. After 3 days and lots of meds to stop labor, i was sent home !! I was told if he came from here on out, i would not have it stopped. 3 weeks later, i was 35 weeks, just went to bed and was having a dream i had peed myself. I woke up realizing it wasnt a dream. i hurried out of bed and into the bathroom thinking i truly did pee myself, i realized it wasnt pee that it was my water breaking. I woke up my husband and we were off to maternity. We got there shortly after midnight. 6 hours & some walking had gone by and i had little to no contractions, so i was given pitocin. an hour after that i got my epidural to help calm me down & sure enough at 830am i was at 9cm. then the caos began. my dr was in the OR for an emergency csection & the on call dr was also dealing with an emergency csection. at 10am my room filled with nurses & nicu ! I started pushing, my dr arrived at 1035am and at 1050 my boy was born. 5lbs 3oz & 17inches! i didnt get to hold him as he was wisped away across the room, i knew something wasnt right, he got a few breathes of oxygen due to his cord being around his neck. after 10 stitches and an hour of waiting for the nicu dr to check him over, i finally got to hold him !! My miracle baby! 5 hours later he was sent to nicu because he wasnt eating and his blood sugar was too high! after 8 days and lots of ups and downs... he came home !!!
