My birth story-

Big wet patch in knickers at 12am, went to bed with period like cramps/ backache at about 1...

Waters broke at 2.50am on 18/01/13 NO DOUBT ABOUT IT- went all the way to the bathroom along with a bloody show... Policy here is to go I and get checked that it is your waters which I was...

Came home but I couldn't sleep as contractions had started but not frequent enough to get a pattern- every time I tried falling asleep it was not happening as a pain would come on!

Got to a goodish pattern so I decided to get checked at 3.25pm as the pains were more frequent...
I was only 2-3cms... She So off we went home...

At home the contractions were getting stronger and stronger to the point I could feel pressure in my bottom! I was crouching with the pains and the contractions were intense so off we went back... The car journey is horrific when you're in pain!

Anyway I am now 4cm dilated so classed as active labour so we stayed there :)

I was offered pethadine which I didn't want so just had gas and air but all I wanted was an epidural- I was told it's going to be very unlikely as labour ward had a long list of epidurals to give :/ I was not impressed as baby's head felt like it was pressing in my bum- reason for this is because she was sideways instead of face down apparently making it even more painful and harder for her to come out!

Anyhow I decided to use the birthing pool which does help I was floating away in it with gas and air- I had to get out through as I was loosing too much blood...
This is when the pain was the worse ever!!! I had to be on the bed so they could monitor my blood loss and check baby etc through my contractions, they put a clip on her head so they could keep track of it :(

Due to my blood loss etc I had to be rushed to another ward and have a doctor present too... Plus at this point baby's heart rate was becoming a concern too...
Anyhow I'm examined and I'm ready to PUSH- I'm pushing away my god it's hard work! But her head kept slipping back up the bend in between...
The doctor then had her fist up me keeping away a tiny bit of cervix so she could get past whilst I pushed.

She wasn't coming down enough so they used the ventuse (vacuum) on her head to just bring her around the curve... I had to do the rest from then as they didn't want to pull her all the way out with it, just past the bit she kept getting stuck at. They made a episomy (cut) and I had to push for my life as there was a concern for baby and my blood loss... Then before I knew it my baby girl was placed on top of me at 10:38pm...
That moment when they place your baby on you is so surreal! I just keep looking at her whilst we had skin to skin and she had her eyes wide open just stating at me <3

I also have a 2nd degree tear- I had a local injection down there whilst they stitched me all back up- crazy as I could feel the odd one! I wishes is had an epidural with that delivery!

Active labour was 6 hours which they said is really good especially being a first time mother!

It was the most painful thing that I have EVER been through in my life but I have the most precious gift from it :) I couldn't be any happier!!!

She's a very good baby bless her, she has a lot of mucus I'm her stomach though which she keeps choking on and bringing tons up- which is effecting her feeding I think as she's in a lot of pain with it bless her :( but she's my perfect little girl- I just cannot leave her alone <3

congratulations. The mucus will clear, my youngest daughter was really bad with the mucus coz she was born in one push/one contraction so she didnt get squeezed properly. When we had her home she would be lying on her back and start squawking like a little bird and it was her trying to get the mucus up. Can be quite scary especially when they go purple and look like they are choking. But she is now a healthy lovely girl who was 2 on the 29th December and there are no concerns. Congratulations again and enjoy your little pink bundle xx
