My baby is refusing a bottle

My son will be 4 months old on the 18th of feb and ever since he was born i have breastfed and bottle fed using expressed milk. Since last week he has refused a bottle and screamed the place down.

I have already had problems with my breast milk and the supply dropping and i am now worried that if my milk dries up he won't take a bottle.

Please help.

Have you tried using different bottles/teats?

If he'll only breast feed, your supply will catch up quite quickly. Try not to worry too much about it, he has maybe just decided that he prefers the breast.

Exactly the same thing happened to us when Poppy was almost 4 months old and we tried all sorts - different teats, different bottles, giving the bottle at different times, warming it up more/less and she was having none of it. She starting crying as soon as she SAW the bottle, never mind us getting it into her mouth!! My h/v told me that when babies get to that age they start to know what they want and like and I think the upshot is, they like their mummies boobies best

We gave up in the end to be honest, although we give her water in a cup now to get her used to having it when we start weaning her. The worst bit was that my husband was really upset as he loved giving her the EBM feed at night

Don't worry about your milk - hopefully it will be produced on demand so there will be plenty. Good luck!
