I was due on the 26th june and had a sweep that day,on the 28th i decided to have a long walk and even dtd on the nighttime, i had been a bit off put by dtd because i had been having my show but it slowed down so i decided it was worth trying. After dtd i had a bath and then started getting tightening's every 1,2,3,4 mins no pain or anything so thinking they were practice pains we ordered a pizza and watched tv, i then bounced on my ball for a hour at around 12am the tightening's died off and i decided to go to bed, when i got in bed me and oh ended up talking for ages i noticed the tightening's again but they had a bit of pain with them i didn't time them but i know they were around every 10 mins. At 2.45 i was just drifting off and coughed and felt a trickle, i woke my oh and told him and i stood out of bed and it was trickling on my shorts and floor, i grabbed a pad and went to the toilet, which is when my body decided was the perfect time for a clear out, i rang the hospital was told to go in and then rang my aunty as she was taking me, i sat stuck to the toilet for what seemed like ages because my body just wouldn't stop clearing out i thought i was going to be stuck on the toilet forever. I finally managed to get off the toilet and ready and set off for the hospital in the car i was having contractions revery 2 mins and by the time i got out the car my pants were soaking. I got in and the midwife had me lie and have babys heartbeat monitored on the heartbeat machine and checked me i was 3cm, I thought I worked vr in labour for hours and maybe even sent home because i was 2cm 2 days prior, well she let me off the monitor and then went to discuss the readings with a doctor and i walked back and forth in the room for a hour only stopping for a contraction and wipe my waters off the floor at this point the contractions were bearable, she came back and said that i had to go back on the monitor because my babys heartbeat was going low with every contraction so i lay on the bed and she checked me again because the pain was getting a bit painful now and i was 5cm, then the midwifes switched over and now i had 2 and they were really nice, they decided they could let me off the bed for a bit because i wasn't enjoying being stuck to it and being in pain at the same time, i had been given gas and air at 5cm but when i got off the bed and stood up things got totally unbearable this was when i decided i couldn't do it and had a bit of a meltdown moment, there was alot of pressure down there and my baby was back to back, they then said i had to get back on the bed because they couldn't trace his heartbeat, they checked me straight away and found i was 7cm, that explained alot i was in transition, i wasnt liking the gas and air anymore it was making me feel sick, i remember just going through my contractions without it but ended up getting some diamorphine, 10 mins after getting the diamorphine my body started pushing on its own, they checked and i was 10cm it was time to push for real.
I pushed 3 times with each contraction and then a doctor came in and said that they were going to give me a episiotomy at this point i really wasnt caring i just wanted to push, they then started saying if the episiotomy didnt work they would have to use the ventouse because his heartrate kept dropping, i still dont know why it was doing that but when he finally came out after 40 mins of pushing and no ventouse required he was very blue.
I cried the second they put him on me i couldnt help it, i cant even describe how i felt, every bit of pain i felt was gone in that moment, i fell in love instantly.
I was stitched up, i have no idea how many i have but i am finding it very uncomfortable and sore down there.
He is just perfect he was 7lb 11oz at birth, i could cuddle him forever hes really good as well he just doesn't like bath time or night time lol
I didnt find labor half as bad as i expected but then again it was quite fast 6 hours and 50 mins from my water breaking to giving birth and i found pushing was the best part for me.
Heres a few pics of my little peach
