well i'll start from the beginning..
i started bleeding when i was 33 weeks & had to go to hospital to get checked over, they couldnt find a reason for the bleeding so after being monitored i was sent home. I continued to bleed lightly & lose my plug for the next 2 weeks, it was blood streaked. At antenatal (34 weeks) they didnt seem bothered & said she would not be early & the plug would regrow.
on the sunday morning i just didnt feel right, i decided to have a lazy day at home & spent alot of my day laying on the sofa
Just after 4pm i had a bath as my braxton hicks were annoying me & i heard that a bath would make them go away. I still felt fine at this point. I got out the bath & noticed that i had a bit of backache that kept coming back every 2-3 minutes, still not painful just uncomfortable.
i went to the loo & noticed i was bleeding quite a bit so i rang the labour ward. They told me to take paracetamol & call back in 2 hours. I only lasted an hour as the pains were getting worse. I phoned my twin who came to look after my girls & shouted to my husband to get ready to go to hospital as i knew i was in labour.
I got dressed & went downstairs to find my hubby eating a takeaway & watching Arsenal on telly i shouted at him to get ready & he said "oh sorry....i thought you were joking".....i wasn't impressed!!
So we left for the hospital & arrived there at 6:15pm. They put me on a monitor & i had gas & air (i didnt have anything at all with the other 2 but thought i would try it out this time) it made me feel dizzy but was quite good The midwife said she didnt think i was in labour as the trace didnt show any tightenings, i could have cried, i was in quite a bit of pain by then
At 7pm she decided to do a scan to make sure the baby was head down....she was & when they checked me i was 6cm i though they were going to say i wasnt dialated & send me home but they said "you will have a baby today"
So the pains carried on & at 7:18pm i had an huge urge to push & out came my baby girl after just the 1 push, much to the surprise of the midwife who thought we had ages to go she pressed the alarm as with her being 5 weeks early they needed to make sure she was breathing......she screamed so loud, i cried with relief. They put her on my chest & she was so tiny!!
she was weighed & was 4lb 3oz. I thought she would be bigger than that.
i had only packed 9lb baby clothes so the neo natal unit donated some tiny baby grows as she had nothing to wear.
They put a feeding tube in just incase she didnt feed well but she had it removed the next day coz she was feeding fine
my hubby was a great birthing partner, he made me laugh so much & helped me have a bath after, he was amazing
the reason for my early labour was the placenta had started to fail, so my body went into labour (according to the midwife) & her placenta was smaller than it should have been. I had swine flu at 27 weeks & since then her movements had slowed right down!!!
i wasnt impressed with some parts of our care while we were in hospital, they put a tag on her leg so tight it made her bleed & she didnt have any of the blood tests, baby check etc that she was supposed to have. I couldnt wait to get home.
So now we are on day 5 & shes feeding well & settling in at home with her very proud big sisters. She is still losing weight but hopefully she will start gaining soon. She is stunning & i'm so in love!
