So here goes ladies,
My waters broke at 40+6 on Sunday the 7th of April at 10.30... A huge gush would be an understatement haha... It just kept going and going...
We rang L&D and went in for monitoring... All was good so we were allowed to continue at home... Contractions started at 11.30, we worked our way through them and called back at 4am(contractions were 4mins apart).. I was checked and not even a fingertip dialated... I was disappointed because it was pretty painful already.... We left to continue at home... They said if nothing had happened by 4pm Monday then to return because they would need to give me antibiotics for infection risk... So after working my way through the contractions we went to hospital and I was started on my drip for the antibiotics and the cyntocin.. I was at 2cm...
Being hooked up to the monitor was awkward but I was allowed to move around but then things started to go bad... My baby's heart rate was in distress... I had 3 midwives trying to put a fetal scalp electrode onto her head but none of them could do it so it was rather traumatic to deal with that and contractions... It got to 12 and a horrible OB came in... My OB had finished for the day... This dr was so rude not informing me what was happening to my baby... I overheard him say I would be transferred to another hospital by ambulance for a c section because they didn't have a pediatrician on... I totally freaked out... No one was explaining anything to me... I was in incredible pain as she was back to back and I was terrified something was going to happen to my baby girl... Well the OB came back 5 minutes later and said change of plans I was now going to another hospital and that they would stop my contractions..I couldn't believe I'd gone through all that pain just for it to stop!
I made it to the new hospital and I had an incredible midwife, which was a relief because of the bitches I'd endured already! They started my contractions again and I asked for the epidural, I'd had enough of the pain and wasn't sure how much more I could handle... It was the best decision I'd made, I was so calm and relaxed and I could still move around but I wasn't in pain... They kept an eye on baby and said I had until 6am Tuesday to see if I could progress... I only got to 7cm and they did a scan to see how baby was laying, she was in an awkward position and not decending, they made the decision to send me for an emergency c section, everything was explained to me in such detail, I wasn't afraid because the midwives were so supportive and the team was amazing, talked me through it all...
Having a c section is such a weird experience because u can 'feel' what's going on but because its not pain...
My baby girl was born at 8.45am on Tuesday the 9th of April weighing 9lbs and 57cm long! I heard her cry and they gave her to me...
It wasn't until after I was in recovery they told me her cord was wrapped around her neck twice and they had to get her out with forceps as she was jammed in my pelvis. I was so relieved returning worked out!
I stayed the night in that hospital but its rough having a c section because when your baby cries for a feed I couldn't move to get her... I had to wait for the midwife and it took forever... She was quite a cow and I ended up keeping my baby on my lap because she would take too long to come to me so I'd had no sleep... They eventually took her to the nursery...
I was then transferred back to my local hospital(they did enquire if I could stay but it was too busy so I had to return to my local)... Well I got back and they were so horrible to me... My husband wanted to stay with me, visiting hrs had ended at 8pm but noone had noticed him with me until 11.30 and then the midwife got into an argument with him, her manager came down and after hearing what I'd been through he agreed my husband could stay...
After the horrible labour and then recovery experience at my local hospital I decided I wanted to be discharged! I told them this Wednesday night and I didn't get to leave until 2.30pm Thursday! Again... Horrible midwife!!!
Now we are all settled in at home and I can't believe my baby girl is here!
Her name is Alice Heidi and we couldn't be more in love! Feeding is going amazing so far and I'm slowly getting my strength back!
I hope this wasn't too long for people to read but Thankyou if anyone reads this xxx
