hi ladies I had my beautiful baby boy last Thursday so i am not in 3rd tri anymore lol but when I was in 3rd tri the only thing i could think about was if id know when i was in labour lol so I just thought i'd post my experience!
From 35 weeks I had been feeling contractions that never developed to anything! being my 2nd pregnancy I thought I'd know but everytime I was sure it was starting lol! anyway... on the wednesday I had achey period pain like feeling! not bad just achey back and sides. Then thursday morning I woke up early and was desperate for the loo when I lost my plug. I had lost bits for a couple of weeks but this was bloody for the first time! Then my contractions started light and really irregular. I managed to have a couple of hours nap and have some food and all day I was losing quite bloody mucus! I had a nice bath and tried to keep mobile! at about 11pm the contractons started to feel pretty strong so I got changed and me my mom and my sister set off for the hospital.
I got into triage waiting room at about 12 and and had to wait until about 12:30ish where I was examined and I was 7-8cm's dilated. I found the midwife absolutely lovely but it was a very strange labour because my waters never broke so I was in labour for about 40 minutes on gas and air when i started to feel like i couldn't cope. I told her but she said that she wouldnt like to examine me again and she kept saying nature would take its course lol!
In the end I begged her to examine me because she didnt want me to push until my waters broke. anyway she examined me and said i was 9 and that i had a tiny bit of cervix left. The midwife offered my mom a cup of tea and she was just about to walk out when my waters broke in a gush. She asked me not to push as i was only 9 but the urge really took over so I tried pushing and Jude was born in 5 pushes from my waters going, he was born at 01:31am.
It was quite painful but nice and fast and he is absolutely perfect so what more could i ask for. The only worry I had was after I had had him I needed stitches for a second degree tear at which point my mw asked the doctor to come and have a look because I lost a lot of blood. When he had ok'd it she had to get another mw in because she told me and i quote 'I'm not very good at stitching i hardly ever do it.' High on my gas and air I agreed to be her guinea pig but my stitching actually took over an hour, longer than the birth lol!
Anyway after having a high downs syndrome chance at 14 weeks, an amnio at 16 weeks which thankfully came back fine, splitting up with my oh because he said he wanted me to terminate the pregnancy, moving back in with my mom and dad, being told he was too big at 20 weeks, being told he wasnt growing at 28 weeks, I am just relieved to have a healthy baby boy who was born 7ib 2oz... at 37 weeks my growth scan said 6ib 6oz and I had him at 39+4 so a little bit smaller but fine! My gorgeous little man Jude Francis is thriving now and I am in live with my little man and my big princess!
