OKay so this is gona be long, ill keep it as short as poss.
We have a tenant at work (i work in a letting agent) and its safe to say shes a bitch, she calls the office demanding to speak to my boss, but its my job to deal with tenants, hes the boss and he does mortgages i do lettings, anyway shes always shouting and carrying on but her rent is always paid and other than her attitude shes an ok tenant and follows rules.
So we gave her daughter a property, there was some problems with the property which we sorted out for her, (her boyfriend also threatened to 'smash my face in' over this incident) then her rent stopped coming in around November, i called her and asked if she moved out, she said no, so i told her to sort her rent out, when i came back after xmas i was told she has defo left so i called her and asked her the dates she moved, she said she will come into the office and speak to me about it, i asked her to make sure she does as she owes us 2 months rent, she then shouted that i told her to leave right before xmas so its my fault and slammed the phone down. so about 10 mins later her mum (our other tenant) called the office demanding to speak to my boss, i told her hes busy can i help. then she started shouting and carrying on effing and blinding i told her hes busy he will call her when hes free, so she put the phone down and called again demanding to speak to him, she literally did this for a hour or so, calling asking for him, phone down, calling back etc. then she was swearing at me telling me im shit at my job, im rude, everything is my fault, i told her to move out, ive done this that and the other, her husband is gona smash my boyfriends face in after she does mine, so i told my boss he needs to phone her bcos i aint dealing with this, so he did but she wasn't in, she was on her way to the office. 10 mins later shes stood outside with her dog, my boss goes out and strokes the dog, shes stood there shouting to me saying 'haven't you got rid of her yet, shes a sket, she needs to go, shes shit blah blah blah' she then threatened to leave the house my boss practically begged her to stay then she came bouncing into the office, baring in mind shes like my height but weights 5x more than me, shes shouting saying ive threatened them with bailifs, which i didn't, again saying i shouldn't work here, then i thought ill be the bigger person and i just looked away at my comp, then she threw her self at me saying 'don't fuckin' look at me like that' my boss grabbed her arm to stop her, she did it again and he grabbed her saying 'come on mate, we don't need this, just calm down please' he then took her out of the office where she carried on again shouting the odds she then looked at me and said 'just wait cos i will have you, you better keep looking behind you' my boss was still all nice with her told her she doesn't need to deal with me like it was all my fault, all i did was told her daughter she owes us 2 months rent, which she does, she didn't tell us she left, infact she lied to us and told us she didn't, so when my boss came back in he said 'you should have just appologised to her' well actually when she said that i threatened them with bailifs i was gona say im sorry you think i said that but i didn't, but by then she already went for me, so why am i going to say sorry after that?

sorry this was more just a rant, but am i right? should he have dealt with it more on my side rather than just taking her outside, apologising calling her mate and begging her to stay in the property? shouldnt he put my safety first and force her out, call the police and evict her from the property? he still after that never asked how i am nothing, he just went back into his office and carried on like nothing happened

He should have definitely checked that you were ok!

I think, realistically, this woman is bringing the company business as she is paying her rent (it's the daughter who isn't) so he won't say anything to her because, ultimately, he is getting money out of her every month.

What he should have done is told her that her behaviour is not acceptable and that it won't be tolerated - surely there must be something on the lease about behaviour?! He should also manage the situation with the daughter who is not paying the rent and is causing all of the aggravation.

I don't think you should apologise at all, and I would be speaking to him about this when the situation has calmed down. I'd tell him that you felt threatened (and were threatened!) and that the way he managed up the situation made you feel uncomfortable.

Sorry you're having a crappy day x

I think he should have called the police to be honest!

thanks LDC, i wouldn't go as far as wanting her evicted, like u say she pays her rent, other than the threatening behaviour shes an okay tenant, but even just if hed of asked me if im okay that would be a start, i just feel as though he put money and tenants loyalty before my safety, i know he stopped her both times from hitting me but obviously he is going to or it would be bad on him, and maybe if he had of kicked her out and called the police it would have aggrivated her more but after the first threat that came from that family id have thought he would ensure this doesnt happen again, the funny thing is, the day after he left me in the office alone. all it takes is for people to walk past and see me on my own to know anything could happen, but any who, whats done is done, m just going to think about getting a new job, one where i dont come to work to be threatened for next to nothing

I'd definitely look for something else, you need to feel safe and enjoy work, especially when you're there and away from your child where I'm sure you'd prefer to be!

Good luck x

thats exactly how it is, i said this to my OH, in all honesty id rather be at home claiming benefits, yeah i hate not working and id hate to claim benefits just because but i dont wake up on a morning and leave my son to come to work and be threatned, i mean what if she did hit me, what if she managed to do some damage, what then for Malakai bcos im sure me been battered and bruised would not be easy to look after a 9 month old baby. so yeah, theres a aldi opening outside my house, im going to apply there, its better than min wage. when malakai goes to nursery im looking into something more enjoyable, right now a job is for convenience with malakai :)

Wow. I would have lost my job that day. I deal with nasty customers all the time in my job but I always have the right to walk away from them or tell them to leave if they are threatening (or call our security). And I've never had a boss side with a nasty person like that.
