Sorry for the late update but here it goes:

Tuesday- me,my DH and my SIL decided it would be fun/intresting to try out some diffrent methods to get baby moving (I was 39+6 and told baby wasn't engaged) so we had Mexican for dinner, tried pressure points (google it) and blowing up balloons (crazy I know) but it seemed baby just wasn't ready as I had no signs of labour. I also bounced on my ball for about an hour before bed.

Wednesday- 12:30am I woke up needing a wee and didn't think anything of it as I was going about 4 times a night. I got back into bed when I was just drifting off to sleep when I felt a 'pop' and water coming out. I don't think I have ever jumped out of bed so fast! I then rang the hospital to see what to do next as my waters had always been broken for me when I was in labour. The midwife told me I had to go in and get checked out and they needed to check to see if it was my waters. My DS was already at my mums having a sleep over but DD was at home with us. After 25 calls to my mum she still wasn't answering (if spoken to her a couple of days before telling her to make sure her phone was on loud and she kept it with her!) luckily my DH had been on Facebook while I was trying to get hold of my mum when he spotted his sister was on there moaning she couldn't sleep so she agreed to have DD while we went to the hospital.

After dropping DD off I started to get a few pains but nothing major. When we got to the hospital (after using a whole pack of maternity pads and 5 trousers later!) I was put on a monitor to check baby's heart rate and contractions. I was also still leaking in the end there was a huge puddle in the bed. But I was having some irregular contractions and I was 3.5cms (at 5:30am) They sent us for a walk because they could keep me in once I reached 4cms. The contractions were still irregular but getting more painful. The midwife checked again at 8am and I was still 3.5cms. So they put me back on the monitor to see how irregular my contractions were. I was still having contractions but everytime I had one baby's heart rate dropped and would take a while to go back up so they decided I couldn't go home and they needed to keep me on the monitor. By 11am my contractions were further apart and still weren't too painful. They checked me again 3.5cm STILL!! So because baby didn't like my contractions they wanted me to deliver as soon as. At 1pm they started the drip and I started the gas and air :) my midwife told DH to go get some lunch as it would probably take a while to get going so off he went to get lunch. While DH was gone the monitor started beeping and my midwife called for help were the matron and a dr came in and looking at the monitor in the mean time my midwife is basically telling me I need to get my clothes off and put a gown on because if baby's heart rate keeps dropping then I needed a c-section! DH walks in and the panic on his face was a picture!! Luckily baby's heart rate soon picked up and the matron and the dr leave. I then asked my midwife for an epidural and she explained she needed to check me before I was allowed one. She checked me and I was 7cm (yayyy!) she left the room and I then told DH I need to push so he is shouting the midwife who came running back and checked me and I was 10cm and ready to push (I went from 7cms to 10cm in 10mins!!) she was then telling me I wasn't allowed to push as she didn't have the right gloves on and her equipment out! But my body was just pushing anyway.

At 14:44pm on august 6th little Alfie was born weighing 6lb 15oz :) we are so in love with him and he has made our family complet :) he is now 4 days old and I can't imagen life with out him now.

Congratulations! What a great birth story too :flower:
