Hi ladies,

Alia is nearly 6 weeks old. For the last couple of weeks her skin is spotty, EXTREMLY dry, some bits are red raw then they go crusty. I feel so sorry for her

My other girls had excema and one had severe excema as a baby.

Ive been moisturising with QV intensive moisturiser and organic olive oil. I dont use soap and I wash her clothes seprate with a sensitive baby wash. Also dressing her cool in cotton.

Im fully breast feeding. Is it something Im eating ?? Should I avoid certain foods? Is there another reason? Hormones perhaps? Any tips? Is anyone elses baby like this?

All the babies I see around the place have baby soft skin without a mark.

Thanks for any help:hug:

Around 6 weeks to about 12 weeks Jasper had off and on patches of really bad skin.

Like one day he'd come up in little dots all over his tummy and back and by 3 days they'd be completely cleared. It happened about 3 times.

He then got the WORST nappy rash, it looked really infected and it was on his boy bits and everything! But with normal nappy rash cream with antibacterial it went away with a fortnight (the worst of it was gone in a week).

He got crusty bits in his joints and skin folds but they cleared up mostly within a week and completely in a couple more weeks the redness was gone.

The skin under his eye brows flaked like cradle cap also! Was a bit gross off and on for WEEKS!

It wasn't all at once, but all these random things kept coming up and going away on their own.

I'd just check her with a HV... but I think it might just be the age? Like Hormones or something?

My boy had really spotty/ dry skin he looked like a teenager!! He had a virual infection at about 5 weeks old and was admitted to hospital anyway the virus was treated but they said he had dermatitis. They gave me some steriod cream and it cleared but he still gets it now if he is ill or is low on sleep. I bathe him in olimment (cant spell it) and i have topical cream to apply after baths. Saying that it could just be normal but if you have had other children with skin conditions i would see your GP. ;)

Thanks guys! Ive got her docs appointment on monday so Ill let you know what he thinks. It has improved a bit today but we will see what tomorow brings.

ive got this cream off my doctor when i first got preg, it was for my eczema, its called diprobase or something like that, leyla had baddd dry skin, used olive oil and it did nowt, so put some of that diprobase on and its gone and not come back

UPDATE!!

Went to the doctor and he said its cradle cap. It starts at the head and then spreads to the rest of the body. I have to treat her head with some prescribed cream and it will clear. Usually if you treat the head the body will then also clear.

Ada had cradle crap on her forehead/eybrows. I bought mustella shampoo for babies. Let it sit there for 15 minutes, then wash. It was 80% better the first day and completely cleared in a week.

Thank you!
I will look for that and try it.
