I counted and got 69 in 30sec = 138, give or take a beat maybe 136-140. This must be the baby right?? Mine averages around 80 and was easy to rule out. However I read there's a "placenta heartbeat" that averages 120-130? How do you tell the difference?

I have been worrying so much about another MMC. I'm 19wks based on LMP, but have only gained 5lbs. I went from an A cup to barely B... I haven't really had any symptoms since 12wks either. So the doppler was VERY reassuring (along with the flutters/pokes I keep thinking I'm feeling!) but I want to make sure I found the right heartbeat. My fiance was very excited and almost certain it was the baby (he has done this twice before) but I thought I'd check with some "experts" ;)

The easiest way to tell is to look it on YouTube the difference between the hb and placenta will be obvious.
Xx

The placenta kinda sounds like wind rather than a heartbeat. You can Defo tell the difference.

You can try looking videos up on YouTube. There's quite a few if I remember :)

Iya very fast paced your is more like a dunt dunt sound 1 to 2 count the baby sounds a galloping horse very fast

The babys HB sounds like a galloping horse, or IMO a panting dog :)

Thanks everyone :) I had found a couple vids but none of them distuinguished between all 3, just 2. But it seems like the placenta would sound like a slower version of my heartbeat and I don't think that's what I heard. At one point I heard a slow and a fast at the same time, so maybe my own or the placenta and the babies somehow in the same spot...

The placenta is definitely more of a "whoosh whoosh" sound, while the baby's heartbeat sounds more solid, almost like a galloping horse.

Yes placenta sounds like a whooshing whirlwind you'll know the difference you can't mistake it once you hear it. I'm a pro now👍
