Just found out we're having a girl for baby #1. I have a list of names I've had in my head for a little while... just wanted to see which ones you liked.

FWIW, we're American. I want a name that is somewhat unique but yet is definitely a _name_ in that it doesn't sound too made up or trendy.

Opinions?

Jessica - What a gorgeous name! Can be shortened to Jess, Jessie, etc. and is somewhat common, but not overly used

Tessa - Not a fan, personally. It sounds like a made-up nickname to something, so it just seems like it's missing something to me.

Sienna - Nice name, but just not a fan for some reason.

Pascale - Doesn't seem to fit in with your other name choices, and is a little too "out there" if you ask me.

Alexa - Love this name! It's short & sweet and can be combined with a number of middle names that sound amazing ie; Alexa Lynn, Alexa Genevieve, Alexa Scarlett, Alexa June, etc. etc. I don't think there is a name that sounds bad with it, really.

Taryn - Love this one too!! It's a unique twist to the name Erin and just for some reason really names me drawn to it! It even looks good on paper.

Daniella - I personally like Danielle more with this name, so that it doesn't follow the very popular "ella" trend (Isabella, Gabriella, Bella, etc)

Juliana - This has always been a personal favorite. Gorgeous in every way!

Jocelyn - I like this name only for the reason that it can be shortened to Josie, therefore would probably alter the spelling to Joselyn.

Vivienne - Lovely name that I don't hear much (and I work in the school systems, daycares, etc.)

Devon - I just associate this name with a boy, but I think if you were to alter the spelling (Devyn? Devynn?) it might make me change my liking for it :p

Leah - So overly used that it isn't even worth using, in my opinion....It's a lovely name, but since it's so popular while being so short, I would alter it into a completely different name that sounds like Leah, for example: Aaliyah, Liliana, Leanne, Aleanna, Loralie, etc.

Suzannah - Beautiful name that is not heard of often and not "out there" at all!!

What a lovely list you have going!! :) Good luck and congrats on your little :pink:!!

I chose Tessa, Alexa, and Julianna

julianna is on my list also but i have it spelled giuliana

Tessa is the nicest

Taryn is the weirdest (sounds made up but that might be because im in a different country)

i dont like Pascale sorry

Devon is nice (i love the place) but isn't there a famous porn star called Devon (sorry but it ruins what would be a lovely name)

the rest are everyday names nothing bad to say about them but nothing massively special about them either (i know at least one person with each of the names that are left)

good luck picking one

Great name list!
I have never heard of Pascale for a girl so it's not one of my favourites on the list. Devon does remind me more of a boys name as well but I've seen it for girls spelled Devin & Devyn.
My favs are Juliana & Sienna!
Good luck!

Lovely names, Tessa is my favourite!

Pascale was the name of my first and favourite doll when I was little, not as keen on the name now though!

Em xxx

My daughters name is Vivienne! I dont want you to pick it though, Im worried itll get popular! lol

You and I have similar taste in names. I love Daniella, Alexa and Tessa. I voted for Tessa

I'm worried about "popular" names, too! Although, the variety and sheer number of names out there now means that anything that is popular now really isn't as prevalent as the Jennifers and Stephanies of my generation. There are a few names that were originally on my list a long time ago, but are now off my list since they are too popular now that I actually have a bean to name! Eg: Ava, Caden, Elliot, etc. Also Avery and Addison (I wanted them for a boy! But now traditional boys names are girls... hmph.)

I feel that Vivienne and the like are the new Emily's, etc -- old-fashioned classic names that are making a comeback. Their classic-ness still make them a viable option in my book.

I agree, I love old fashioned, classic names. :) I guess I just worry Vivienne will become the new Isabella because I tried really hard to pick an un-common name just like you are. But you're probably right, there is more of a variety out there now than 25 years ago.
