I posted this in the wrong place I feel... woops! :P (https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/labour-birth/1927783-my-labour-story.html)

My labour story is here -
At 39 weeks and 5 days (11th July), I had my baby boy! <3

I lost my plug and had my bloody show at the start of last week but thought it'd be too good to be true if it was real labour so tried not to get my hopes up!

On Wednesday 10th I had lots and lots of pains all night but they were mostly just uncomfortable rather than sore as such and were only every hour or so and I could sleep through them mostly so didn't think much of it. During the day on the Wed they slowly got more and more painful and a little more frequent but were still only one per hour at most. I felt really sick and generally strange. At about half 7 at night they were getting really sore and seemed a lot more regular - the only way I can describe the pain is really really bad period pains but with lots of lower back pain. Between half 7 and 11ish the pains got worse and I started to struggle to get through them and they were every 5 minutes apart so decided to go get checked out.

I got to the hospital and was 3cm but baby was back to back :( The midwife said it looked like it'd be quite a while and I could go home or stay so I decided to wait it out at home! At least I knew it was labour!! :D

Poor hubby hadn't slept for over 24 hours by this point so he went and got an hour sleep while I tried to work through the pain but it was so bad! The pain was all in my lower back so I couldn't really get any relief from rubbing it or moving around or that! We went back to the hospital just before 5am and I was still only 3cm - pushing 4cm. I went in the water for a while and tried gas and air (which I hated! It was horrible!!) but couldn't get comfy so got out and got some morphine at 7am - lovely to help me sleep but didn't help the pains at all :( Hubby was so amazing at keeping me calm, getting me food and juice and trying to do anything he could to make me feel better - especially considering he'd only slept for an hour and couldn't sleep on the chairs in the room plus I was needing him to rub my back every 3 minutes or holding my sick bucket! Lol

I got another internal later in the afternoon and was only 6cm but he was starting to turn round and wasn't back to back anymore so they broke my waters and a wee while after I went back into the pool. I didn't have any pain relief by this point as I hated the gas and air so only had hubby and a power shower with hot water! Lol

My gorgeous baby boy was born completely natural with no pain relief in the water at 15.51pm weighing 7 pounds exactly and was 49cm long! I had a very small tear at the top which I was offered a stitch for but she said it was mostly for cosmetic purposes otherwise it would heal ragged - I decided I didn't care about that so didn't get any stitches!! :D I held him, fed him in the water, hubby cut the cord and then he had skin to skin while I went for a shower! One of the most amazing moments in my life, I got out the shower and could hear my husband telling my baby boy all the things he would do for him as his father and promising him all sorts <3

The pain of the labour was completely unbearable and there is no way I will forget the sensation but looking at Harvey's gorgeous eyes and listening to his amazing little noises makes my heart completely melt and totally worth it! <3

For those interested, I spent the last month and a bit doing lots of walking, played the wii fit (just dance and the hula hoop game), had sex a few times a week and inserted EPO - midwife said she believed the EPO is what allowed my cervix to be so stretchy :) I also took RLT from 32 weeks :) I spent a lot of time bouncing on my birthing ball too :)
