I knew it wasnt just a 'virus' as a doctor told me on monday. Shes really bad bless her, we were admitted to hospital today so they could monitor her breathing etc but sent home as shes breathing okay and although shes only feeding 1-2 oz every 4 hours shes still feeding so they said we can go home. If she gets worse we gotta go back.

My poor baby shes been bad all week but the doctors said it was just a cough and cold!

We've got a humidifier and raised her cot, any other tips ladies? :flower:

Oh poor baby! Sitting in your bathroom with the hot water running to get steam will help a chesty cough

Hope she's better soon x

Unfortunately there isn't much else you can do love. Fran had it last Christmas - we took her to a&e who diagnosed it but were useless at helping her and sent her home in no better state than we went so I took her to my gp who were brilliant. They put her on a nebuliser to regulate her breathing and sent us home with a ventolin inhaler and spacer to use when needed.

Just keep an eye on her breathing and if it gets any faster than 40 breaths a minute and/or it gets laboured take her back to your gp/a&e/out of hours doctor - they should check her blood saturation levels, monitor her breathing, check her temperature and give her a thorough examination.

It's so scary - if you want to chat or ask any questions please pm me xxx

My son had bronchiolitis twice in one month and he was hospitalized the second time due to him being severely dehydrated. it took four tries to get an iv in as his blood was just too thick and dry. it was scary for me and the doctor said he will most likely be asthmatic. The steam from the shower really quiets their cough though and helps them breathe easier.

Awww my son has a virus at the moment too and we was discharged from hospital yesterday with an inhaler to help open up his airways, he has breathing difficulties and similar symptoms to when he had bronchiolotis in July and was in hospital for 2 days.

There isn't much you can do for it I'm afraid but hope she's feeling better soon I know how horrible it is :flow:

My LO had bronchitis a few weeks ago, he was so ill - he had to go on antibiotics which cleared him right up.

They also advised me that humidifiers actually make it worse, which it did with my LO. Hope you LO feels better asap. :hugs:

We stopped using the humidifier after 2 nights its seemed to make her cough worse. She woke up coughing about 5 times last night, and is very chesty today!

The doctors said that days 4-7 are the worst for them which is now.

Thanks for the replies ladies and also bigbetty that site was very helpful! Xx

hope your LO is better soon. I know for a fact I'll go to pieces when Darragh first gets poorly, so my thoughts are totally with you
