Hey ladies, Im so sorry I haven't posted! I can't believe its finally my time to share my rollercoaster story with you all. Im going to try give as much detail as possible, so this may be long, but some of my labour is a bit blury as i was on so many drugs!
Some of you may know my story, I was due to be induced on Christmas day
Signs; For the previous week, I had some blood streaked mucous, pink tinged discharge and mucous plug.. the day of going into labour I had tones of mucous plug and pink tinged discharge.
Thursday 19th December; 8 days over due.
I went for my THIRD sweep at the midwife, I was a stretchy 1cm dilated (no change from my previous appointment) But she told me my waters were buldging. The sweep definitely worked as I started with niggles straight away. I came home, bounced on my ball, ate curry and the pains turned into more of period cramps than anything. I would also like to add, they WERE NOT regular. All of the things I read told me if it was the real thing, they'd get closer together. Mine didnt, they were completely random. I was awake all thursday night as I was uncomfortable and it got worse lying down.
Friday 20th December;
My pains although irregular, seemed to be coming more and more. I told OH to stay at home as I knew something was happening. All day the pains continued and at 4 o'clock we took a trip to the labour ward. I was examined and told i was 2 cm dilated, and given a FOURTH sweep, which made me bleed quite alot. I went home and as I'd been given painkillers, I slept on the couch.. It was about 7pm and I woke up to a gush, screaming to OH to get me a towel. I panicked a few times throughout my pregnancy about my waters, but when they went boy did i know about it.. It took OHs car 5days to dry out from my waters, hahahah!
Labour;
At the hospital they put me on a WARD where other ladies were being induced, seperated by curtains (I dont know why) I was strapped up to machines just to monitor my contractions and babies heart rate. My pulse was SO fast that it turned out to be faster than babies, so they got a bit confused. It wasnt until this point my contractions were 5 minutes apart, and got closer and closer giving me no break within a short space of time!! I was also being sick at the time. They kept lying me on the bed on my back to try get a heart trace of the baby and the mw was really rude when I told her I couldn't. They came in and put a cannula in my hand, which she missed and my whole hand swelled lol.. disaster. We were left in that room for atleast two hours, I was screaming in pain. They examined me and I was 4cm, so we went round to the delivery suit with the WORST mw I have ever met seriously. I was put on 3 drips as I was dehydrated and had a high temperature and they said I'd caught an infection (Iwas still on the heart trace for the baby) I was given gas and air and diamorphine, which she injected into my arm and MISSED, squirting my mum in the face with all of the liquid so they couldnt administer anymore as they didnt know how much had entered my system. Time passed and its all really blurry, I was in such a mess and ended up begging for an epidural about 3am. They checked and I was 7cm dilated. It didnt fully work on one side, so I used gas and air too, but it was amazing, Im so happy I had it done. Babies heart rate kept dropping which was very scary and I was convinced I was going to need an epidural. Once I got to 10 cm, they put a clip on babies head to monitor his heart rate. He was back to back so they gave him about an hour to rotate.. I could feel the clip swirling and it was so strange!! I started pushing telling everyone that I was going to poo! Although I had an epidural I could still feel alot of what was going on. I was convinced I couldn't get the baby out.. whilst pushing the mws were saying to eachother 'Did she have a growth chart, did we know how big this baby was going to be?' I then begged them to cut me as I could feel myself tearing which the mw said was best (I was terrified of being cut, that was my biggest phobia) I pushed him out unassisted in 40 minutes He was born at 12.55pm On Saturday 21st December, weighing 9lb 14oz.
Im the happiest mummy ever! My actual birth experience was only so awful as I HATED the midwife.. she kept saying things like whats your problem? She wouldnt get my mum a chair, she had to sit on a stool, yet another mw went and got her one! Luckily at 8am they changed shifts and the best mw in the world came in.. without her no way would I have got him out. I was terrified of being cut, but seriously, I'm so happy I did. I could feel tearing and that would have been 100x worse. I havent even noticed my stitches, they arent even sore. My hemorrhoids are actually painful but my stitches arent haha! The pushing part was easy to be honest. I'd recommend Raspberry Leaf tea x
Thankyou so much for all your support ladies, this site has kept me sane for the past 9 months good luck with all your labours!
Meet my little monkey..Oscar Tobias Michael, I'm so in love. Hes 10lb at a week old!! xxxxx
