I've just measured it twice on seperate occasions 10 mins apart & for 1 minute I got 117bpm both times.

Is this normal?
I'm 38 degrees (around 98? Fahrenheit) & have a baaaad cold.

Worried now :( xx

No that's not normal at all. Resting heart rate in an adult should be 60-100 bmp although 70-80 is. ideal.

I wonder if its often higher in pregnancy, because I have been doing mine each evening when I do my blood pressure and it always comes out above 100. I have been doing it for about 2 weeks.
When not pregnant, my heart rate is about 70bpm.

Doespecially your heart feel fast? If your temperature is high aswell maybe you have an infection.
Do you have a maternity assessment unit you can call? Being you are heavily pregnant it can't hurt to get checked out. I'm guessing you feel I'll otherwise you wouldn't have measured your heart rate x

Look in your maternity notes and see what your heart rate is normally.

Your resting heart rate will be increased due to pregnancy. Also having a temperature can increase it.

Do you have a maternity triage number you can call? It might be worth getting some reassurance from them.

Hope you're feeling better soon. :hugs:

Thanks ladies.

I do feel very poorly, dizzy, sick, burning up although my temp has dropped now thanks to a wet flannel on my face.
If my heart rate is still at that (I've just done it again and it's 120) in 30 minutes I'm going to call. Xx

Ended up in A&E! Suspected blood clot on the lung... Not going to lie, I'm terrified!
Having to have an x ray of my lungs.
Hope it's nothing serious & my little man is okay x

Hope things turn out ok.

I was kept in recently as both our heart rates were high, my temp was up too so they gave me paracetamol to get temp back down and checked for any infection. Perhaps they're just being overly cautious, but it's good that you went in.

Thanks girls! Home now.

They thought I had a blood clot on my lung so had to have an x ray, then I got told this morning that clots don't show up on x rays and that they'd have to do some other type of test that 'radically raises the chance of breast cancer when done on someone of my age' & could be potentially dangerous for the baby, so I said no.
They basically fobbed me off and said 'it's your asthma' - I have very mild asthma although a little stronger since being preg, but asthma does not make me feel like I'm genuinely about to die so I really disagree with them. when they discharged me my heart rate was 130. The same doctor said this is 'very normal' (!!?!!!) I was totally not convinced.
They had a midwife see to me and baba too, he's perfectly fine but I have an appointment with an obstetrician because my heartbeat won't slow down & this is clearly dangerous for the baby.

To be honest I'm appalled by the way the doctors have handled this! I'm at home now feeling like I'm on deaths door & they found out I'm 'severely anemic' but didn't offer ANY iron?!

I'm really mad ha. Sorry for the long post xx

Wow that sounds awful I cannot believe how they have treated you! a HB of 130 is something to be concerned about I am surprised they have sent you home

Can you contact your midwife and see what she has to say?

:hugs:

I keep getting heart pulpatations and feels like my hearts going to jump out my chest n light headed. Its normally after I have eaten and my heart rate always jumps to over 100 also.
I spoke to my midwife who said that it is common in later pregnancy as there just isnt enough room anymore, with baby pushing up and having a full stomach plus your heart trying to pump extra blood and then pump extra to digest your food it can get a bit much lol so my midwife thinks its not to much to worry about but is keeping an extra eye on my blood pressure.
Hope it calms down though hun I really hate it when my heart goes funny n can last upto half hour :/ xx

It does it every day, really hurts my chest & causes severe panic attacks :(

Saw my midwife this afternoon after getting home, heart rate was down to 98 so a lot better (I had literally just woke up so I think that attributed to it being a touch lower)

They've totally messed me around in hospital though, a heart rate of 137, blood pressure was very very high (can't remember the numbers) & my temperature was 39 . Something , (around 102-103) except I was shivering I was so cold and sweating like someone put me in a volcano.
Totally don't think this is pregnancy related but they're useless soooo nothing I can do :( midwife keeping an eye xx
