I am 10 weeks 6 days pregnant right now. So I'm a long way away from sharing this birth story lol. I just wanted to share my daughters story , since I never got a chance to.
So my original due date was February 25th. I chose to be induced because my boyfriend at the time lived in a different and worked in a different city. He was hard to get a hold of sometimes , his cell phone wouldn't receive connection. I did not want him to bis the birth of our child. I was kind of wavering because I wanted the experience of going into labor myself BUT I developed PUPPS so I changed my tune very quickly lol. My induction started at 5:00 pm that evening , before I left to go to the hospital I was experiencing some stronger "braxton hicks" contractions. They let me rest for a little while then they came in and inserted the foley balloon catheter. I HATED that thing , the pain was worse then the contractions to me. It felt so horribly uncomfortable , then they had the nerve to bring me some food AFTER they inserted it. My cut off time to eat was 10pm and it was getting late but I didn't want to eat a thing , I was in to much pain. Not even 10 minutes after they put it in I had to go to the bathroom. I was worried about it falling out and I even told my nurse "If this thing falls out , i'm not letting you put it back in" She told me there was no way it was going to fall out this soon , only if I was dilated enough. She said it was like pulling a bowling ball through a golf hole. So I got up and went to use the restroom and as soon as I sat down , it went flying on the floor. I was really pissed off but I still had to use the bathroom. My mother and my boyfriend heard the noise and opened the door to make sure I was ok . I told them I was and informed them that the catheter fell out and told them to let me finish using the bathroom before they got the nurse. They got the nurse ANYWAYS and then the nurse came in there and told me to come so she can check me. I told her to LET ME FINISH USING THE BATHROOM lol. So after I finished she checked me , I was about 5cm , then she put the contraction monitor on me and realized I was already in labor when I came to the hospital. I was so happy to have that thing out , I ate my food and then fell asleep. They had given me a 5mg ambien and it was the best nights sleep I had ever had while pregnant lol. I woke up about 10 minutes before they came to start pitocin and they were surprised to see me up. Anyways , they started the pitocin and later broke my water and my labor progressed quickly at first. Then it just stalled at 7cm , although I was 100% effaced. They kept monitoring my contractions and noticed they were very strong and kept asking me if I wanted an epidural. I kept refusing because I hardly felt them and they found that weird. Eventually I accepted the epidural because I knew I was going to tear during delivery and I didn't want to feel that or the needles or stitching down there at all. So after a few hours I didn't dilate anymore , they came and stripped my membranes and waited. Still no progress. Then they found out what was wrong. Some how my baby had worked herself in a transverse position , even though she was heads down at first. They shifted me from side to side , pushed on my belly and had me push a little to turn her. As soon as she turned and dropped I felt a big change, although I had the epidural I felt tremendous pressure and I started dry heaving. I could not stop. That's actually how I pushed her until she was crowing. I was sitting up violently dry heaving until I realized her head was down there and her hair was "hanging out". I was able to lay back and push her all the way out.
She was born at 6:47 pm on February 18th , 2009. (The day before my father birthday) She was 7lbs 6oz. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen. She's the love of my life.
I can't wait to experience this again. I'm due March 17th , 2014 . I'm kind of hoping to be 1 day over due so she can be born exactly a month after her sister or 2 days over due so she can be born exactly a month before my birthday (Mine is April 19th)
