Open to suggestions!! I like unpopular/unique names a lot, especially for girls. I want something where people are impressed with the name and it hasn't been heard of in a while or something.
Thoughts/opinions on these names? I'm pretty set on them but feel free to be brutally honest :flower:

Veda is our girls name for sure. Decided on this years ago! So I love it :) I love Finley, but prefer it on a girl. Also love Xavier!

Tyler and Jarett are a bit too 90s for me but I love the rest of them. I like the nn Alfie for Alfred as well. I think I would for sure put Theo near the top of my own list if it wasn't my dog's name already. :haha:

I really dislike Neveah and it strikes me as very trendy but I think Neve is cute. Eleanor with the nn Norah is adorable and classic. I also really love Veda, it reminds me of My Girl!

Thanks for your thoughts girls!

I know a lot of people dislike Neveyah/Nevaeh but OH and I both love it and it would also have the alliteration with Ns as surname begins with N :)

Tyler is our #1 choice ATM as it has a subtle meaning to us and I like that it's not the same name but has initials of a passed love one included. I love the NN Ty also and just think it would suit a handsome little boy so well!! I personally haven't met anyone with this name, but I am completely aware that it's not "unique" that I was originally going for.

I love Xavier too (OH doesn't ) but I'm not sold on it because I fear people will pronounce it like Zavier instead of X-avier and it would drive me mad :haha: it's more of my guilty pleasure name I suppose.

Definitely not a fan of Alfie so probably would go for Frederick, although Alfred has family connections to both of us.

I love names with X, V, Y, Zs in them lol :)

I love Finley and would have used it if it didn't clash with our surname. Our Freddie is Frederick although part of me wishes I'd realised I could have used Alfred and still called him Freddie! I may have considered it, although would prob still have gone for Frederick as it's the Freddie I love not Alfie...

I love the name Norah/Nora it's classy and pretty and short for Eleanor I think it's just perfect! Not so much keen on Neveyah as I think it's a bit 'trendy' for me. Same for Tyler, although if they have special meanings for you then that's different :)

Here are my 'rates' on your names

:blue:
Tyler 4/10
Frederick/Freddie. 8/10
Alfred/Freddie. 8/10
Theodore. 10/10 love this :)
Jarett 7/10
Xavier. 3/10 never know how to pronounce it correctly :/
Maxwell 10/10 love it, on our short list
Finley 7/10 nice

:pink:
Neveyah 0/10 sorry really dislike
Maiya (My-uh) 6/10 prefer Maya - May-a
Aaliyah - 3/10
Eleanor/Norah 9/10 Love this
Veda - 7/10 really like but would worry about the Darth jokes though
Faye - 4/10 bland
:flower:

Tyler - I'm sorry I really hate it
Frederick/Freddie - Love it, absolutely gorgeous and an adorable name.
Alfred/Freddie - Love this even more as it has the option for Alfie which I think is adorable.
Theodore - Stunning name, my favourite from your list.
Jarett - Not for me.
Xavier - Lovely name.
Maxwell - Don't like it, but I like Max or Maximus.
Finley - Cute but not my style. I do love Phineas though which also shortens to Finn.

Neveyah - I actually really like Nevaeh/Neveyah but everyone hating it when it first became common and insisting it was tacky and chavvy because it was heaven backwards puts me off using it. But definitely better with a slightly different spelling.
Maiya (My-uh) - I really liked this name until I studied Buddhism and realised maya (same pronunciation) was the word for delusion and all evil in the world, which put me off! But it's a lovely sounding name and unlikely to be related to its Buddhist meaning in the West.
Aaliyah - Like the sound, dislike the spelling.
Eleanor/Norah - Absolutely gorgeous name.
Veda - Love it, my favourite of your girl names.
Faye - Don't like it.

Tyler - Not really for me because of associations of not being very classy. Quite cute on a little boy but I can imagine a teenage Tyler being a nightmare. How judgemental of me! Just what pops into my head though!
Frederick/Freddie - Not a fan
Alfred/Freddie - I like Alfred but don't like Alfie
Theodore - LOVE it! Timeless, perfect.
Jarett - A bit too trendy American bully kid. Must be associations from things I've seen on TV or something.
Xavier - I would say this "zAH-vee-uh", so no.
Maxwell - Love it, great stuff
Finley - Alright but popular

:pink:
Neveyah - Sorry, I really dislike this, it seems so made up
Maiya (My-uh) It's ok
Aaliyah - A liar?
Eleanor/Norah - Perfect name, gorge
Veda - Pronounced Vader as in Darth Vader? Not for me
Faye - I like this spelt Fae but it's OK this way too.

Really love the names Frederick, Alfred and Maxwell just because they're 'proper' names with cute nicknames xx

Tyler - I love this name, I think it's cute for all ages (but slightly dated to the 90s)
Frederick/Freddie - Not my style (makes me think of Freddy Kruger)
Alfred/Freddie - Also not my style
Theodore - Not a fan of this name (although I think the nn. "Teddy" is adorable!)
Jarett - Hate this name
Xavier - Love this name! Also prefer the X-A-vee-er pronunciation - Love!
Maxwell - Very cute!
Finley - Great name! (but I don't like the nickname "finn")

Neveyah - I like the name Nevaeh, it's very pretty! Also like the name Avaya.
Maiya (My-uh) - I love this name but prefer it spelled Maya (pronounced my-uh)
Aaliyah - Love! This is my fav on your list!!
Eleanor/Norah - Not my style
Veda - Not my style
Faye - Better suited as a middle name

Some additional boy name suggestions: Lennox, Paxton, Maddox, Xander (or Alexander, nn. Xander)

Tyler- 1/10. Sorry! It is quite common where I am and I have taught a fair few Tylers. I can't read Tyler without hearing it shouted by a certain andgry type of parent voice in my head.
Frederick/Freddie- 9/10.
Alfred/Freddie- 9/10. I love Freddie and both Frederick and Alfred are lovely. Alfred normally gets sortened to Alfie so having it shortened to Freddie would make it more unique :).
Theodore- 10/10. Love it. Slightly biased as it is my DS's name. But I love all the nicknames (Ted/Teddy/Theo) and Theodore is such a strong handsome name (to me at least!)
Jarett- 5/10
Xavier- 6/10
Maxwell- 5/10
Finley- 8/10. Super common here, I swear I hear "Finlay/Finley" called out at least once a day. I am married to a Finlay tough so that might be partly to blame :haha:. but I like it a lot.

Neveyah- 0/10. Sorry! I really don't like this name.
Maiya (My-uh)- 8/10
Aaliyah- 3/10
Eleanor/Norah- 10/10. My name is Eleanor and I love it. I love that it has so many nickname options- Norah is beautiful and I love Nell, El/Elle and Ella. I fell into being called Ellie because that's just what people tend to shorten it to and I wasn't Eleanor when I was younger and I/my parents didn't think about nicknames :haha:. Anyway this is my favourite of your girl names :).
Veda- 9/10. Very cool and not a name I've come across in real life.
Faye- 5/10

Thanks girls for your honest feedback!! Just to clarify some pronunciations and why I think you would dislike the names:

Veda = Vey-duh (like from the movie My Girl). I wouldn't be worried about any mispronunciations around here because we don't add "R"s at the end of names as some accents do

Aaliyah = Uh-Lee-uh (there was a singer with this name). I agree that the spelling is odd, but this seems to be the most "common" spelling. Perhaps Aleah could work too but as I said I love Y/Z/Xs in names Aleeyah maybe? Looks odd too. Suggestions welcome!

I'm surprised how different everyone's taste in names are! How cool! I'm not at all offended if you hate any of my names, I just wanted to see if everyone hated the same name then maybe I'd re-think it. I'd say my top contenders are Neveyah and Tyler which most of you seem to dislike :haha:

I love the name Aaliyah - I would have it on my short-list too but also find the spelling slightly strange. I've contemplated spelling it just Aliyah with one A.

One of my best friends in high school was Aliya, pronounced the way you like (uh-lee-uh). I think any variation of the spelling you'll run into people pronouncing it wrong. She got Al-ee-ya a lot, emphasis on the AL. But it's a pretty name!

Love that you are do open to feedback. Some folks put names and are open to opinions but get upset when they get honest answers.

Love Aliya, it's dh's favorite but I work in a very multi ethnic school and hear it too much otherwise would use it.

Layla is beautiful too if you like y names.
So is Taliya

Yeah I know lol but I realize not everyone is going to love my names, and that's fine! Unless someone pointed out a specific reason why it's not a good name, then I just like to see for fun!
Thanks! I do love Leila too (even tho this spelling has no "cool" letters lol)
