My sons poo today is dark green/black

Why is this? I asked my mother in law and she said it's because i give him pureed vegetables and it's too much iron for him. But i haven't given him any veg since friday. He seems well in himself. He has also been more everyday this past week, but i have just increased him solid portions.

My first thought was that it was too much iron too (as it does turn your poo green/black).
