Hello everyone,
Just a quick birth story for the arrival of my little man. Some of you from third tri boards may have read many of my threads moaning about being overdue lol, and having false starts for labour for over a week. Well at 41+5 they broke my waters which started off an extremely quick birth which was a little traumatic but thankfully ended well!
They broke my waters at 8.30pm, by 9.30pm I was a screaming wreck as I couldnt cope and I had progressed to 7cm. 10 minutes later I wanted to push and the MW said I was 9cm and so advised there was no way I could get the epidural as I had requested. By 10pm I was fully dilated and pushing, which actually felt a lot better than the pain beforehand!
Up to this point all was going well, however, an hour and a half later and my little man still wasnt with us. They discovered he was back to back and was also having difficulty getting past the spines (exactly the same problem I had with my dd). I continued pushing but now had the head MW in my room and they started to really encourage me to push and push and in the haze of everything I could hear them discussing his heart rate which apparently wasnt looking good. They called a doctor in who immediately said he needed to come out so I was given an episiotomy and they used forceps to get him out within 2 more contractions. My son was placed immediately on my chest although I was a little in shock to take it in, and then he had to be taken away because he wasnt crying much. After a good rub down he was fine and weighed a good 8lb 7.5oz and it had turned out he had the cord round his neck.
I was so happy he was now safe however I then had a PP bleed whilst being stitched up so remained in stirrups for 45 mins and had more wires and drips attached to me whilst df held ds.
Thankfully after it all I am doing much better now I have had a blood transfusion, and my little man is perfect and doing brilliantly.
