Well, I was booked in for an induction on saturday (20th) at 41 + 4. I was told earlier on in the week if all was o.k I was still able to go to the midwifery unit which is where I had my first daughter.
I was a bit afraid of the unknown at first but once I was there and got started I was fine. I was booked in for 2.30pm and was given a persarry around 3.30pm. I was then told that the midwifery unit was shut as it was very busy in the laour unit and they needed the staff.
I was soooo pissed off, but obviously it cannot be helped.
I had to lie for an hour with it in first and then was able to walk about. Me and OH decided to go for a coffee after about half an hour I was getting mild cramps with tightening which slowly got stronger over the day.
By 10pm I was getting stronger cramps but nothing special, I wouldn't even take paracetamol for it. OH had to leave at 10.00pm I was so upset, I think I was just dreading sleeping over in hospital on my own
Anyway couldn't sleep, the cramps where getting stronger, around 11pm I was given paracetamol and tried to sleep. I kept nodding off only to be woken by contractions ,I kept needing the loo only to be stuck in the toilet with a contraction...ahh the joys! The midwife later told me that the midwifery unit was open again but they had to check me to me as there was a few dips in babies heart rate. By 4am I was in a lot of pain, I felt like I was keeping the women up on the ward with my moaning and groaning.
By around 5.30 am they called OH to come in. The midwives then came in an gave me some gas and air, I was 6/7 cm, by then I was well on my way and then next minute I just said "I feel like I have to push" so they whisked me down to the midwifery suite. I was practically pushing on the wheelchair! Then the midwife decided to try get me off the chair when I was having a contraction! I said "hold on im having a contraction" and her reply was "you cant stay on there all day" yeah a bit my lip!
Hubby was nowhere to be seen and I was determine to hold her in! lol The midwife was like just push when you feel the need, I was like "noooo wheres OH" the next minute he comes rushing in. The stupid midwife didn't tell him that they sent me down to the midwifery unit and he had went up to the labour suite!
The next minute, my waters burst all over the midwife. 2 pushes and her head was out, the cord was wrapped around her neck, one more push and she was out! Hubby arrive just 6 minutes before she was born.
I had a little tear but the midwife said it would heal on its own.
