So this might be a long one.
We were booked into a birthing unit as had heard lots of bad stories about our local hospital.
Had sweep on the Thursday which was 40+1- for the next few days had constant loss of plug and period pains. On Sunday 2.30pm my waters broke so went to the birthing centre. I was checked over and sent home for my contractions to start. 10pm that night my contractions instantly were five minutes apart lasting a minute. This continued and at 1am were 3mins apart and extremely painful. Went back to the birthing unit to find i was only 2cm dilated so was sent back home.they continued at 3mins apart but were excruciating so at 9am went back to the birthing centre.they didn't understand why they were so close and so intense yet only 2cm still. Stayed there as they were so so painful. Tried the birthing ball, hot bath and breathing techniques but they were getting worse every minute with just a 15second gap. Half two came and my waters had been broken 24hours but i wasn't progressing. An ambulance was called and i was taken to the main hospital,i contracted all the way in the ambulance and couldn't take anymore. When getting to hospital i was checked to find baby had turned his head sidewards and this makes contractions unbearable as it knocks your pelvis out of place. The midwife said she didn't know how i had gone 16hours in that pain. She said an epidural was needed so i agreed. Epidurals should be done when there isn't a contraction but as mine were constant i had to have it with contractions still going.
Once it was done the pain calmed down but the epidural only worked properly on the right hand side lol. At 6pm i was checked and was 6cm now but babies heart rate kept dipping so doctors were in and out. They put the heart monitor on babies head but because concerned. They were going to take some blood from babies head and plan to do a c section. This was at 8.30. The doctors came in and put my legs in stirrups and got ready to take the blood. When he went to do it he was shocked that he could see babies head and i was ready to push. At this point my epidural had totally worn off and it was too late to top it up. I started to push with no pain relief. After pushing and pushing babies head started to come out,i felt myself tear low down but then felt an awful tear high up,the midwife checked and said that the clip on babies head has torn my urine opening. The more i pushed the more it tore. Then baby came out! He was rushed away as he was blue and wasn't breathing, it felt like ages but he was fine. Weighing 8lb 3.5oz. We were over the moon. After about twenty minutes i felt very unwell. The midwife called the doctors and they were worried as my uterus wasn't contracting and had torn causing a big bleed. This was resolved and hormone drip started. The doctors came back to sew me up. 46stitches and was told that baby had done somethin they hadn't seen before he had ripped my clitorus and urine opening so this had to be repaired as best as they can but will need further correction later on :(
the day after i was told i had an infection down there and as my waters had been broken for 36hours i had got a womb infection, they said this was going to happen as my temp and pulse were dangerously high through labour. Antibiotic drips started.
Was moved to the ward and discharged after 5days.
I came home and still wasn't feeling well, the midwife was concerned at the size of my right leg and foot so was sent aback to the hospital to find out i have a blood clot in my womb or uterus and there was a concern i could have a dvt.. I have been started on strong treatment now for this.
Luckily my baby born is fit and well and none the wiser as to what's happened.

So after a very traumatic labour and birth i am now starting the road to recovery xxx

Wow. I'm so sorry hon, but happy to hear that lo is well. Sending you healing hugs. I had a section, so haven't experienced childbirth. Yours sounds like it was terribly painful. I hope that you're feeling better, and that they have given you some sort of medication if you're still in pain. WOw. You went through a lot for your lo! xxoo

Congratulations on your little boy! Sounds like you had (and are still having) a rough go. Try not to worry, it will get better as your body heals! Things may heal up just fine anyway and if not you will get referred to a reconstructive specialist.
