For those that saw my announcement on February labour watch thread and everyone else!
Alexander was born 6/2 at 5am 8lb 2oz

After the long and somewhat negative birth experience of ds1 I had opted for a home water birth. Due to issues with my iron I was told hosp birth was the best and followed that advice. Ds2 was due 7/2. I started getting contractions 5/2 roughly 10-11am. At the time we were putting together drawers for our bedroom and entertaining ds1. The first thing I noticed was how strong they were considering I had only just started. I put this down to 2nd labour. The pains were at the tops of my legs as they were with ds1 and round my back. This was expected as I was back to back. I just did the best I could. I attempted a nap round 4ish but couldn't sleep. The contractions kept coming but were inconsistent. They were still definelty strong and hard. I had always had why everyone said was a "weird shaped bump" I had taken a photo to post on here asking for people's opinions but I never got round to it. I will post it tho on this thread! I had put this down to one beig back to back and 2 ds1 was 9lb and I fully expected ds2 to b bigger. My pregnancy was always a lot more harder and more painful. Anyway I still rode it out at home. Had dinner. Watched telly and had a bath and lied in bed. They were closer and stronger. So much stronger. I think I managed to sleep fr an hour. I last checked the time at roughly 10:30 and then at 00:00 on the dot. Now they were stronger and closer. On average every 5 mins lasting for under a min. I got oh up at 1 and asked for another bath. In the bath I decided to ring labour. I was advised to stay at home till contractions at 4 mins. After roughly half hour I said to oh that I'm going in now and that's it. I rang them and said I need to come in now. They took my details. We then rang my parents who came to take me to hosp and sit in the house with lo. We got bits together and they came. By this point u had small urges to push. I thought my waters will go soon as whenever I wanted to push it felt like a bubble needed popping in me. My plug went just as I was about to leave with a small amount of water. The pushing sensation was getting strong. Success though as I got to labour ward there was a birthing pool free!!! I told the mw about the urge to push. During the usual bp check and temp my waters went. Which felt good! They started running the waters as contractions were thick and fast. They decided against the examination as I appeared to be labouring well and the pushing sensations were strong and good. The pool felt good but the contractions hurt so much. I carried on pushing. They had a little but of trouble checking heart beat. I had to move out of my position as they struggled to pick it up with the Doppler so I would have to move! With one push.. "We can see the head!" Good good.. Another push.. "He's a bald baby!" Yep makes sense.. Third push "we think we can see his bum.... We need to check properly so can u hop on the bed..." Nah it's not his bum.. Every mw has said head down. I've felt his knees. With a mixture of a bag check and a contraction were I pushed they confirmed he was defo bum first. An additional 5 me and a registrar came in. I assumed c sec. I was ok with that. The mw looked at me and said they were going to carry on. I started to panic, and asked for a c sec. They said that I could do it and to keep going! I asked for my pain relief. All I had had was g&a and it wasn't doin much so I weren't taking to much. Tbh I was scared and panicy and feeling like I couldn't have such a birth like this! But a contraction came and I just got more and more focused as i pushed more and more. They briefly mentioned at syntocin. I have had this and HATED it last time. So when the mw decided against it as altho my contractions weren't as often as they liked they were there as I wa pushing well. Pushing the bum was the worse.. I never had rig of fire with ds1 as I was given a local for an episiotomy. OMG the ring of fire. I felt the legs literally pop out.. I thought that was him and I was done.. I was told no I had just delivered the legs.. Oh no I still have the head!! No you have done the worse part honest! I started feeling his body just slide out. At one point I asked why they couldn't just pull him out??! My oh said with some more pushes.. One shoulder good! 2 shoulders! Great. We just need to get the head out. Contractions just stopped. Waited for a bit and I said I'm not feeling any! As they said to try and push I decided I need to just push with nothing there and see how it goes, I just needed it over.push push push and pop. Alex was quickly passed to me for a hug but was pale blue so needed oxygen. Oh only managed to trim the cord and he was only on me for a minute. He recovered really quickly though. Apgar at 1 and 5 was 6 and 10. I delivered my placenta and was checked for tears. I have only very slight tear but I'm quite bruised! He has slight club foot which we believe can't treated with manipulation. Ds1 already has this in both feet so this doesn't phase us. He has been referred for a hip scan as he was breech but his hips sound good. He also has a tongue tie but has been feeding very well all day. I was in hosp delivering for roughly 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. So was very quick altogether! I have also been te talk of labour ward. Everyone seems very chuffed with the delivery as a natural breech birth. All on g&a.
I know a lot of people wouldn't find this too postive but it was a much more successful birth then ds1. It feels like a much more positive experience. Altho I was scared and asking for a c sec it was purely down to fear and right now I feel quite proud of what I achieved. I feel more empowered with my body then ever before!

Thanks for reading will post some pics soon. And an updated ticker!!

Congratulations! I think breech vaginal births can be successful but people are too scared to try ( both the mother and the midwives). We'll done you! You should feel proud

Wow well done you!! My baby is breech and I would be so scared to try natural delivery! Plus my hospital won't let me! Congratulations x

Congrats you did an amazing job you should be proud.

Congratulations, what a great birth story
! I felt the same about my breech baby too! I have to admit that I'm quite pleased to hear that the 'ring of fire' was worse with the bottom first-I've not done it the other way around so had no comparison!

Congratulations on your little one! Thank you for your positive story, you did great!

Well done, and congratulations! What a super positive breech delivery story, good for you, you should feel empowered hun, superb job!! xx

Good on you!!
I was 8cm with lo by the time I got to the hospital and she was breech with a planned c section but she decided to come early.
First Dr was all for going ahead with it but then her boss said no as I was high risk.

Congratulations.
xx

Congratulations! As another VBB mom I love reading breech stories :). Well done!
