So this is very late but always wanted to write my birth story, so here goes.

So LO was due 23rd December 2011 and I was desperate to not give birth over Christmas, spent all time up to about 22nd hoping he'd come then all 24th-26th hoping he wouldn't lol.

I'd been loosing my plug for a few weeks and having lots of aches and nigles. Everyday I was sure today was the day. On the morning of the 28th I kept waking up from about 4am aware I was having pain in my stomach but not enough to keep me awake and at this point actually didn't think about labour. About 630 they were getting bit stronger and couldn't get back to sleep. Went to toilet and had a bit of bloody show. Went and woke DH up and told him I thought today was the day. We both got up and had some breakfast. DH was supposed to be going to work and we wasn't sure whether he should go or not. Decided to have a walk to shop to see what happened, didn't effect contractions at all so sent DH of to work. I rang my mum and best friend to let them know. Contractions at this point were very irregular and about a 3 on the pain scale. I bounced on the ball, tidyed the house, and repacked my hospital bag about 3 times. My mum and friend kept texting to see if I wanted them to come round but I felt fine. At about 12 my friend just turned up she didn't like me being on my own. We sat and had some dinner and just chatted, I remember she kept saying that I should go hospital now but I was fine and actual surprised at how calm I was. Around 2pm contractions were getting more painfully and more regular so text OH and told him to come home. Even though I knew we prob had ages to go I just felt like I needed him with me now.

Hubby was in a bit of a panic when he got in but soon calmed down. We ate tea around 6 and at this point contractions were still completely manageable. We watched the film bridesmaids and contractions were getting quite bad at this point. Called hosital just to let them know what was happening, they said to wait till they were 4mins apart and lasting at least a min. Decided to have a bath and wash my hair. This actual slowed contractions down and at about 11 they had slowed right down, do decided to try and get a bit of sleep. Prob got about an hour between contractions. Got up about 1230-1 and had a shower, and took some paracetamol. The pain was mostly in my back and the shower did not help at all felt like needles hitting my back so got out. Rang hospital to say I was coming in as needed stronger pain relief. Arrived at hospital at 2. Midwife examined me and I was 3cm but very stretchy lol. While examining me she burst my waters and there was thick meconium. I had to go on monitors for me and baby. I'd already suspected baby was back to back as pain was mostly in my back an midwife confirmed this, as soon as my waters went the intensity and frequency of contractions went right up. I tried gas and air but it made me suck so didn't use it. My birth plan had been every drug but epidural but I now decided a didn't want anything as I don't like feeling out of it. The contractions were getting unbearable and it wasn't helping that I was stuck on the bed due to the monitors and around 4 I decided I wanted an epidural.

I think the midwife knew I had dilated quite a lot as she said she wouldn't examine me till after the epidural because if I was too far they wouldn't give me one. When the lady came to do the epi she asked how dilated I was and midwife said I was 3 at last exam. It was now 445am. I think the doctor who did it had an idea I was further as the contractions were do close together it took 45mins to get it in. They gave me 1/2 the dose and said they would top it up later if needed. Midwife examined me at 6 and I was 7cm. The epi was good but because of back labour I could still feel lots of pressure in my bum and was convinced I was pooing lol.

I really felt I needed to push at about 8am but midwife said It was just pressure and didn't examine me. Midwifes swapped over at 830, I told new midwife at about 9 that I couldn't not push any longer. She examined me and I was 10cm. 32mins later at 9.32am Noah George entered the world! It was the best feeling ever and we enjoyed skin to skin and he had his first breastfeed. I then found out I had a 3rd degree tear and had to go to theatre. Poor OH got left with LO for an hour and 1/2 while I went off for my stitches.

Stayed in overnight and came home tea time next day.

Sorry it was long, though I'm sure I've still left loads out.

Can't add pics at min cos on my phone will try and add some later.

Loving been a mummy best thing in the world!

Noah then and Now
