Life has been a bit hectic but i finally have a few mins to write my birth story!
16th november 2 days after my due date i woke up for one of my many toilet trips about 5:45 in the morning and while sat on the loo i noticed that although id finished i was still trickling lol. It took me a while to realise that this was possibly my waters (slightly dissapointed i didnt get the gush lol) i wasnt getting any pains apart from a very dull axhe which id had for a few days anyway so i put on a pad and woke my partner to let him know. I called the hospital a few mins later still not convinced it was my waters and was told to come in to be checked. I phone my mum to let her know and got my last few bits in my bag and by 6:45 we were on our way. By this point i had started to get pains which were every 2 mins but not overly painful so being a ftm i didnt think they were contractions!
We arrived at the mlu where id planned to have a water birth and they checked and confirmed my waters had gone (they were still trickling at this point) i was told they would be back soon to check me and decide if i could go back home. By now i was in a lot of pain and there was no way i was going home! They came back a few mins later and told me i had to go to the normal labour ward to be monitered as they had got busy but would have my pool room ready when i came back. This is where it gets a bit hazy... I was strapped to the monitor and they could see i was getting strong contractio s so finally got some gas and air..amazing! Was told they would be back in half hour to check how dialated i was ashadnt been checked sincw i arrived and it was now about 9.00. 2 hours later no one had come back and i had a massive urge to push so sent the oh to find someone. They finally came to check me and thehead was right there so they let me go with my body and push with the contractions. I was in a lot of pain but had no time for anything other than gas and air and also no time to get back to the mlu for my water birth! Laying down was awful so i ended up on my knees on the floor and finally pushed our beautiful baby boy into the world at 12:20pm. After about 15 mins daddy cut the cord and decided to deliver the placenta naturally although after an hour i asked for the injection as it wasnt budging! I was alowed back to the mlu to recover instead of the main ward whcih was amazing and meant we had a private room and no restrictions on visitors etc.
Max Riley Garner was born 12:20 on 16/11/12 weighing 7lb 6. He is perfectand so content and we were alowed home after his 6 hour checks. From waters going to holding my baby was 6.5 hours and i couldnt have asked for a more straight forward labour i also managed with no tears or grazes even tho he came out like superman! Will uodate with pics when im not on my phone! (he is in my avatar pic)
