Our daughter is Hannelore Justice, no nickname. Hannelore flows beautifully with our last name

Boy will be Samuel James, fifth generation.

So ruling out anything too close to either name -

Margaret Verity - NN Maisie. We love Maisie, but it sounds a little too young for President of the United States.

Bryony Grace. Sounds too trendy is our concern.

Clarity Elizabeth - NN Clare or Clara. Not sure here.

Elizabeth Joy - NN Libby. Possibly too dated?

Naomi Faith. Love, but not as nice with last name as Hannelore.

We're also open to any suggestions!

Haha - love the president comment - I had the same thought recently - that is wouldn't be a name you could become president with - I forget about which name but then I remembered our current president is named Barack Obama so maybe it doesn't really matter anymore. Margaret is my favorite actually and then Naomi.

I have never heard of Hannelore before - how is that pronounced?

HAH-ne-lo-rə. It's German, typical English spelling is Hannalore I believe. But it's my husband's grandmother's name and we prefer that spelling anyway.

My favourites are Margerat and Elizabeth. Love both those names.

I love Briony and Elizabeth. I adore the name Hannelore too by the way! Have you considered other classic German names to keep the theme?

I love Elizabeth Joy with your daughter's name... and I love the nickname Libby! Libby is adorable for a child and Elizabeth will suit her well when she's president! :winkwink:

Annaliese is on the list also, but not sure. Elizabeth spelled Elisabeth or Elsabet would pull traditional German also, and hubby loves Libby. That's why Annaliese is bumped down.

Granted, we intended to call Hannelore Hanna but she's always been Hannelore. So we can like nicknames but they may not get used.

Well, Elizabeth/Elisabeth Joy it is if Turnip is a girl. We say the other names and ho hum. Elizabeth and it's just like I can sense the baby being thrilled. Plus, it's DH's favorite.

While it feels a little dated, I'm going with classic. It will still be traditional in 60 years vs some of the kr8yve spellings.

Elizabeth is the only name I liked from your list. Good choice.

I like Clarity its different but how about Joyce as the middle name. I dunno why it just stuck me as being strong sounding. Hannelore is lovely btw.

I'm partial to "old lady" names. I'd love Margaret Elizabeth. But both your Elizabeth Joy and Margaret Verity are nice too.
