Natural parenting and formula feeding?

Just wondering what people's thoughts are about the compatibility of natural parenting and formula feeding?

It's looking pretty inevitable that I'll be changing to formula feeding soon, as I'm currently exclusively expressing and the lactation consultants have found a very high palette in my lo, causing damage to my nipples and it doesn't look like we're going to be able to solve the problem...

So, I'm still wearing my baby in a Kari-mor sling, am interested in baby-led weaning etc... And just wanting to hear from people who have experience of natural parenting and formula feeding? I'm really interested in your experiences...

Thanks in advance.

I think just doing what you think is best for your baby is "natural parenting".

Hey. I FF'd my son. I still used a sling more often than not and did some baby led weaning.

xx

Would have thought the fact you ff does not exclude you from other natural parenting methods.

natural parenting isnt some kind of exclusive club, its not all or nothing.

I see no reason why natural parenting and FF should be contradictory... you can still use slings, co sleep, use cloth nappies, BLW or whatever you want to do whilst using formula. So go for it and don't worry about labels I'd say!

Thanks ladies. I kind of knew that this was the case but it makes me feel so much better hearing other people's experiences of it. There is so much loss attached to stopping breastfeeding that I don't want to feel we're losing all the rest of it as well...

Thank you so much. I'm feeling so much better...

Travis has been formula fed from birth, we use cloth nappies, sometimes use slings, and he has an amber teething necklace! Am also planning to do baby led weaning when the time comes! Have a nosey in the natural parenting section, there are plenty of ff mummies in there!

Definitely agree with the other posters :) We FF, but fed on demand, totally followed LO's lead when it came to her "routine", use cloth nappies, do BLW, baby-wear, she has an amber necklace, we baby sign... etc etc.

Natural parenting is a state of mind, I think, and is a big umbrella which covers a whole lot of ideas! Totally ok to pick whichever bits work for you, and leave the rest

I don't see why not? There's very few of us living in tree houses in the wilderness ;) We all have slightly different versions of natural/attachment parenting that we incorporate with modern living. You might have to make homemade formula from organic yaks milk to retain your membership though
