we started LO on Infacol a few weeks back as he started grunting and straining alot with wind, would always burp and fart but still managed to act like he was in pain/discomfort.
Recently though I noticed he started spitting up alot (he's breastfed) which was quite disheartening after you've spent ages filling him with milk for him to just spit it all back up again, plus i noticed he was in abit more pain and took longer to get a burp up, PLUS he got prescribed infant gaviscon for reflux.
Something triggered in my head yesterday and i decided to stop his infacol... BEST thing i did, in that short space, he feeds better (can be quite fussy, latching and unlatching etc) spits up less if atall and passes wind alot more freely, and he's smiling tons more.

NAUGHTY infacol! :dohh:

I found this too! But it didn't happen straight away. I started my lo with infacol when she was only a week old. She was never a sicky baby then around week 11 she was sick aaaaall the time. Stopped the infacol and shes so much better! :dohh:

no it does take awhile in their system for the spittyness and discomfort starts, so glad i decided to stop. Now to wait for it to go out of his system to see if he sleeps better at night too!
Nomore medications for this little boy haha, going to take him off his gaviscon too as i reckon it was the infacol that caused it.

I found the same thing with bith infacol and gripe water. I dont bother using anything now, apart from a bit of baby tummy massage :)

Funny you say that as I was beginning to seriously question how effective infacol is. I have been giving it to my 3 week old and not been noticing any difference, and in fact I even would go as far to say as it has made him slightly worse. Think I'll stop giving it to him and see if he improves any.

We were the same with dentinox. I suddenly wondered if it was aggravating his wind and he started to get constipated. Stopped it last week and he's seemed better and had far less wind. Very naughty colic remedies making it worse!!

we only started giving Caylan it because he was in discomfort when the bubbles went down rather than up, he would always burp ok but thought if the infacol could stop ANY bubbles going down we'd use it. But i think its inevitable that some bubbles will go down regardless of burping, infacol, gripe water etc, and babies just don't like that feeling, so just got to wait it out for them to mature abit.

Since I started with infacol three days ago my lo has struggled to latch on and has spat up quite a bit sometimes after feeds. I did wonder if it was infacol. I just wish I could help her. She grunts and strains loads but isn't constipated xx

We tried Infacol for a bit with our LO, it didn't help but nothing ever has. We noticed it made her constipated :( I'm glad your LO is feeling better already :)

Just thought I would post a positive response to infacol! I found it really helped my LO and brought up his wind xx

After reading your post I decided to try a night without Infacol as my four week old had really been struggling with being upset for seemingly no reason and didn't have as many dirty nappies. He was difficult to soothe as well and feeding time became a nightmare after using Infacol for about a week and a half.

NOT using Infacol has given me my lovley content and happy baby back. I only used it as he wa very windy and would fart all day long but I guess at least the wind was coming out that way! (obviously we burp him sufficiently as well)
